The NFC East has not seen a repeat champion in some time, and this season figures to be another hyper-competitive campaign in one of football’s most fascinating divisions. Philadelphia is the favorite and seems poised for another strong season with Jalen Hurts at the helm and a plethora of weapons on both sides of the ball. Can the Eagles repeat and set themselves up for a run at the Super Bowl, or will another team emerge and keep the streak of new division champions alive?
With the 2023 NFL campaign on the horizon, it’s time to break down the NFC East. Let’s get into it, with odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook.

Dallas Cowboys (+190)
Few teams are more maligned in American sports these days than the Dallas Cowboys, and it’s not hard to see why. Much like their counterparts in Austin, Texas at the collegiate level, the Cowboys often have high expectations every preseason and repeatedly fall short of those lofty goals, particularly once the playoffs start. With that being said, is the hype justified for a Dallas roster that is pretty loaded this season? It could be, as I’m a little more bullish on the Cowboys than in recent years. While it’s entirely possible that the Cowboys finish with a record of 11-6, or even 12-5 if everything breaks right, it’s more likely that this is a 10-win team that ends up with the top Wild Card spot when the NFC playoffs come around in January.

New York Giants (+850)
Year 1 of the Brian Daboll experience went about as well as Giants fans could’ve hoped for last summer. The first-year head coach immediately brought competency and a noticeable competitive edge back to New York, and it really showed in the team’s confidence and consistency in 1-score games. What can the Giants do for an encore following a season in which they won a road playoff game for the first time in over a decade? If Daboll has any tricks up his sleeve, he’ll need to use them, especially given how difficult the schedule is for New York this fall.

Philadelphia Eagles (-135)
Is a Lombardi Trophy in the cards for the Eagles this season? It’s certainly possible. When you look at it, there aren’t many teams in the NFL with higher expectations this year than the Philadelphia Eagles. Philadelphia enters the 2023 season still recovering from the sting of blowing a double-digit lead in a Super Bowl loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. However, that result didn’t stop the franchise from having another solid offseason, as Philadelphia had an excellent draft in April, bolstering what was already one of the best rosters in the league. Factor in the fact that the NFC is extremely weak this season, and it’s hard not to envision the Eagles as Super Bowl contenders.

Washington Commanders (+1600)
Washington nearly qualified for the playoffs a season ago, which was more of an indictment on the dismal NFC than anything else. The Commanders’ defense was unsurprisingly very strong once again, as it was able to keep Washington in the majority of its games. The Commanders suffered from continuously poor quarterback play, as Taylor Heinicke’s brief moments of brilliance were largely overshadowed by his inconsistency and propensity to turn the ball over. Now, with a new quarterback under center this season, the Commanders are starting fresh. Unfortunately, the schedule isn’t conducive to a successful season, as we’ll get into in my best bet.

NFC East best bet: Philadelphia Eagles to win the NFC East (-135)
The Eagles went from strength to strength last year on their way to reaching the Super Bowl, and with another year of experience under Jalen Hurts’ belt he should at least be able to lead them to winning the NFC East. The Cowboys are likely to push them all the way but ultimately Philadelphia’s roster looks too loaded to believe that Dallas will be able to overcome them. While the Giants outperformed expectations last season it is hard to see them having the consistency to win the division, while Washington simply has too many problems to consider them.
