The Week 3 slate is here at last, and we’ve got 13 great matchups to look forward to. We have a tremendous AFC East rivalry matchup here, and what better way to mark it than by betting a Same Game Parlay?
The Patriots will be looking to avoid falling to 0-3 here against the Jets, and I have cooked up an SGP for the occasion. Here we go:
New England Patriots -13.5 alternate spread (+430)
Mac Jones to throw for 3+ touchdowns (+900)
Parlay odds: +2104

We have a 2-leg Same Game Parlay, which pays out at north of 20/1 with FanDuel Sportsbook. Let’s break it down.
New England Patriots -13.5 alternate spread (+430)
Any game involving Zach Wilson has the potential to turn into a blowout, so I think the Patriots on an alt. spread makes a ton of sense. Just last week, in Wilson’s first start of the year, New York lost by 20. When Wilson started against New England most recently, he completed 9 of 22 passes for 77 yards while the Jets mustered just 3 points. The Patriots have been a disappointment at 0-2, but they could easily be 2-0.
Their losses, to the Eagles and Dolphins, both came on booth reviews as they were marching down the field with under two minutes to go and down a score. It wouldn’t be possible for those losses to have been much closer, and both Philadelphia and Miami look like playoff teams, so they had a tough scheduling draw as well.
Getting to play the Jets is a major step down in competition for them, and the Pats will be looking to make a statement with their first win of the season. It was a nice story when Wilson came in and (somewhat) led the Jets to a victory over the Bills in Week 1 after Aaron Rodgers got hurt, but the honeymoon period is already over.

Mac Jones to throw for 3+ touchdowns (+900)
I think these plays correlate nicely. Basically all we need to cash this Same Game Parlay is a big day from Mac Jones, and we’re getting better than 20/1 on that. If the Patriots are covering a -13.5 alt. spread, Jones more than likely had some success. Things haven’t gone quite as planned for new Pats offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien, but like I just mentioned they had tough draws in Philly and Miami to open the season.
O’Brien is still a very clear upgrade over Matt Patricia, and Jones is going to be a lot better thanks to his presence. Jones had three touchdown passes in New England’s Week 1 game against the Eagles and he also had three TD passes in his final start of last year against the Bills, so this isn’t a crazy number for him.
In his most recent start against the Jets last November, Jones averaged 9.1 yards per attempt, so I don’t think he’s going to be too fazed by New York’s secondary.
