NFL Las Vegas Raiders vs Pittsburgh Steelers Same Game Parlay at +1402 odds: Derek Carr and Raiders keep rolling

Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Keelan Cole (84) celebrates with guard Jordan Meredith (61) and tight end Foster Moreau (87) after scoring a touchdown against the New England Patriots during the second half at Allegiant Stadium

The final game of Saturday’s massive slate is a matchup between the Las Vegas Raiders and the Pittsburgh Steelers. The cold front sweeping through the country is predicted to have an effect on this game as freezing temperatures are expected with the possibility of a negative temperatures due to the wind chill. Perfect football weather!

I cashed Sunday Night Football’s SGP at +1300 odds and came up 1 leg short in Thursday Night Football’s SGP, so I’m back with a vengeance for this matchup.

Raiders first half +1.5 (-120)

Josh Jacobs to score a touchdown (+125)

Raiders team total under 17.5 points (-110)

Las Vegas Raiders first half +1.5 (-120) over Pittsburgh Steelers

The Raiders are growing a reputation that no team wants. Las Vegas starts hot, gets a sizable lead, and then blows it. They are 0-4 this season when they were leading by double-digits at halftime. They nearly did it again in Week 15 against the Patriots as their 17-3 lead disappeared shortly into the second half, but they got bailed out by one of the most ridiculous endings to a game of this century. For that reason, I’ll stay far away from the Raiders in the 2nd half and back them to cover their opening half spread. The two-headed monster of Josh Jacobs and Davante Adams has proven to be 1 of the best duos in the league, and both offensive threats could be in for a big night. With the freezing temperatures expected in Pittsburgh, I expect Jacobs to have a heavy workload — and Las Vegas has proven to be successful when he is heavily involved in the offense.

Josh Jacobs to score a touchdown (+125)

This leg of the Same Game Parlay correlates well with the Raiders’ 1st-half spread pick. Jacobs has scored 5 touchdowns in the last 6 games and a big reason for that has been that he is getting 20-30 carries a game. He is consistently getting opportunities to score, and as we’ve seen this season, Las Vegas relies on Jacobs when they’re in the red zone. He’s rushed for at least 90 yards in 5 consecutive games and will be the focal point of the Raiders’ offense on Saturday night as the weather does not favor the passing game. I expect scoring to be scarce, but if anyone is finding the endzone it will probably be the league’s rushing leader.

Raiders team total under 17.5 points (-110)

The first 2 legs of the Same Game Parlay correlate, but this one is the outlier. However, that drives up the odds of the parlay. The 2 biggest reasons I see for the Raiders not surpassing 17 points are the Steelers’ run defense and the weather. Both of these teams are similar in the fact that they are run-heavy offenses, which eats away at the clock. But Pittsburgh ranks 7th in rushing yards allowed per game, so I don’t expect Jacobs to be picking up 5 to 10 yards per carry. That will slow the game down quickly. Secondly, the forecast predicts the temperature to be about 11 degrees, but when factoring in the wind chill, the “feels-like” temperature is roughly -4 degrees at Acrisure Stadium. That will have an enormous impact on the passing game, so if this game is a battle between Jacobs and Najee Harris, we could see a very low-scoring game between these teams.
