Chicago Bears -6.5 alternate spread (+196)
It’s finally the Bears’ time to shine in this rivalry. Aaron Rodgers is gone now, and Chicago can finally exorcise those demons. Jordan Love will be taking over under center, with very little experience. Love has made only one career start, and that was in 2021, and it didn’t go very well, as he struggled on the road against the Chiefs. Now he’s being thrown into an equally tough environment on the road at Soldier Field.
Expectations are high for Justin Fields this season, and he’s got a large chip on his shoulder as he looks to prove to everybody that he’s more than just a runner. And I think he is. He didn’t have too many weapons last year, so the Bears went out and traded for DJ Moore, providing a massive upgrade to their receiving corp. With Moore, Chase Claypool and Cole Kmet, Fields now has a solid crop of pass-catchers and should be able to take a third-year leap in 2023.

Under 33.5 (+240)
I don’t think our under conflicts with the alt spread leg, because if the Bears are covering -6.5 I think it’s going to be because their defense dominates and Love has a long day. Both of these quarterbacks have pretty low floors, so an alternate under also makes a lot of sense. It wouldn’t surprise me if both offenses are pretty anemic, but the Bears have the advantage of being at home and having the added dynamic of Fields’ rushing ability.
These teams and coaching staffs are very familiar with one another, and should spend most of the first half feeling each other out. And Rodgers isn’t the only important piece missing from Green Bay’s offense. Starting receiver Christian Watson is out for this one, and fellow starting receiver Romeo Doubs is dealing with a hamstring injury and it looks like he’s going to be on a snap count. Something like a 20-13 final seems like the most likely outcome.
