Buffalo Bills (+550)
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+800)
LA Chargers (+800)
Kansas City Chiefs (+850)
LA Rams (+1100)
Dallas Cowboys (+1200)
Denver Broncos (+1200)
Cincinnati Bengals (+1400)
Philadelphia Eagles (+1500)
Green Bay Packers (+1500)
Las Vegas Raiders (+1800)
It’s a little surprising to see the Bills as considerable favorites in this market considering they finished 3rd a season ago. Buffalo has an excellent offense, but I expect them to be in positions to run clock late in games, which could limit their total points. The options get more intriguing down the board with the Rams and Cowboys at double-digit odds. Dallas finished with the most points scored last regular season, but they have lost their security blanket in Amari Cooper in the offseason. The Bengals present intriguing value at 14/1, but it remains to be seen if their success from last season will carry over.
Highest-scoring team best bet: Los Angeles Chargers (+800)
The AFC West is the best division in football and the Chargers should have the best offense in that division. The Chargers were 5th in the NFL in scoring in 2021, and that was with a few bad games. With most of its games projected to be within one score, Justin Herbert should be throwing the ball early and often this fall. While the Chargers’ defense did improve in the offseason, I still don’t expect it to be an elite unit. In order to stay in front of teams in the AFC West, the Chargers’ aerial attack will still need to produce at a high level.
Even after throwing for more than 5,000 yards and racking up 38 touchdowns a season ago, Herbert is still getting better as he enters his third season. The young quarterback will have multiple running backs who can catch out of the backfield, plus Keenan Allen and Mike Williams on the outside. LA’s offense started off slowly in 2021 before scoring 30+ points in 10 of its last 15 games. In a year in which Herbert should be a serious MVP candidate, the Chargers could easily score more than 500 points.

Highest-scoring team longshot bet: Las Vegas Raiders (+1800)
When targeting a longshot, I was a little surprised to see another AFC West team at 18/1. The Raiders went out and acquired Davante Adams to bolster their already explosive passing attack, so these odds feel a little too big to me. Similar to the Chargers, I expect Las Vegas to be in a number of close games this fall. And seeing as they’ll be facing some elite offenses, the Raiders should find themselves in plenty of shootouts.
Derek Carr threw for nearly 5,000 yards a season ago, and he should have a healthy Darren Waller to target this year, along with Adams and Hunter Renfrow. Las Vegas averaged 22 points per game a season ago, which included 7 games of under 20 points scored. The Raiders were a boom-or-bust offense in 2021, but the addition of Adams plus the return of Waller and a healthy running back group should ensure more consistency this time. At this price, I believe Las Vegas is worth a small play.
