March is here. March Madness is coming.
It’s one of the best times of the year to be a sports fan – maybe the best – because the NCAA Tournament keeps us entertained for the majority of a blissful three-week period. Even before it begins we have 2 weeks of conference tournaments. It’s an embarrassment of basketball riches!
To get you ready for the madness, here is all you need to know when it comes to watching the NCAA Tournament.
How to Watch March Madness 2022
The NCAA Tournament officially begins on Tuesday, March 15. The “First Four” takes place on Tuesday and Wednesday, when a total of 4 games are played to reduce the field from 68 to 64. Four teams play for the last 2 at-large berths, while 4 conference champions bid for 2 of the No. 16 seeds.
All 4 “First Four” games will be shown on TruTV.
The remaining NCAA Tournament schedule is as follows:
First Round: March 17-18
Second Round: March 19-20
Sweet 16: March 24-25
Elite Eight: March 26-27
Final Four (semifinals): April 2
National Championship: April 4
TruTV, CBS, TBS, and TNT will share broadcasting rights throughout the tournament. CBS will show the national semifinals on Saturday, April 2 before TBS airs the championship game on Monday night.
What channel is March Madness on in 2022?
CBS, TBS, TNT, and TruTV each have 4 games on the first 2 days of the NCAA Tournament (March 17-18) – a total of 8 first-round games apiece for those 4 channels.
CBS, TBS, TNT, and TruTV will also share the second round (March 19-20). The majority of those games will be shown on CBS.
The Sweet 16 (March 24-25) will be spread across CBS (5 games) and TBS (3 games).
The entirety of the Elite Eight (March 26-27) is on CBS.
Saturday, April 2 marks the arrival of the Final Four. Both semifinal games are on CBS (5:14 pm ET and approximately 8:34 pm ET).
The National Championship is set for Monday, April 4 at 9:00 pm ET on TBS.
How to stream March Madness in 2022
The free March Madness Live app is available for anyone to download and with it watch all 67 NCAA Tournament games. You can also stream videos and watch highlights. The March Madness Live app will work with a number of streaming devices such as Amazon Fire TV and Apple TV. Viewers can watch up to 3 hours of live streaming coverage for free. Games televised on CBS are available for free.
Other networks require a paid account. Among the paid app options are FuboTV, YouTube TV, Sling TV (free trial available), Hulu, Paramount+, and AT&T TV Now.
