New Orleans Saints vs Pittsburgh Steelers Predictions, Odds, Spreads & Betting Lines: Home 'dog has value

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson (18) against the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field.

The Saints will travel to Pittsburgh for their Week 10 matchup against the Steelers. New Orleans has lost 3 of its last 4 games and Pittsburgh has lost 6 of its last 7, so winning hasn’t exactly been common for these teams this season. Both squads are looking to turn that around this week, and our NFL expert gives their picks, predictions and best bets for this big game.

NFL Week 10 New Orleans Saints vs Pittsburgh Steelers prediction

It has been a rough season for both teams. The Saints and Steelers have moved on from their starting quarterbacks, which has caused a dip in offensive production. Pittsburgh might have a strong defense, but its offense has produced little to nothing. New Orleans showcased its stellar defense by holding the Raiders scoreless not too long ago, but even with Alvin Kamara on offense that unit has underwhelmed. Which team can walk away with a win in Week 10?

New Orleans Saints vs Pittsburgh Steelers expert picks

We have 2 standout NFL picks for this week’s clash between the Saints and Steelers.

Saints vs Steelers point spread pick: Steelers +1.5 (-110)

It’s an NFC versus AFC battle as the Saints pay a visit to the Steelers. The Steelers are in the middle of a down year, but I like them a lot here as home ‘dogs. New Orleans hasn’t played well, either, and is still very banged up on both sides of the ball. It’s a short week for the shorthanded Saints, as they just lost to the Ravens on Monday Night Football. Andy Dalton took 4 sacks in that game and the Saints struggled to move the ball on the ground. They had just 6 points through 3 quarters against Baltimore and now face a Steelers defense that looks like it’s going to get TJ Watt back from IR.

Pittsburgh’s splits with and without Watt on the field the past couple of years are stark, so he will instantly upgrade the whole defense. It also looks like Damontae Kazee is going to be activated off IR. The bye week should also have been a great opportunity for Kenny Pickett and the offensive coaching staff to get on the same page and try some new stuff, so I expect the rookie to play a lot better down the stretch. With Michael Thomas and Jarvis Landry both out, Dalton is working with very limited receiving options beyond rookie Chris Olave. Kevin White (yes, that Kevin White) has been getting some runs recently, which tells you everything you need to know about the state of this New Orleans offense.

Saints vs Steelers Over/Under totals pick: Under 40 (-110)

I’m taking the under since it looks like the Saints’ defense is starting to play more like the unit we expected coming into this season. New Orleans’ defense struggled out of the gate, but over the past 2 games it mostly shut down Derek Carr and Lamar Jackson. First, the Saints pitched a shutout in one of the most dominant defensive performances of the season against Las Vegas. Then this past week they held Jackson to just 133 yards on 22 attempts (6.0 YPA). Both of those games easily stayed under the total. Pittsburgh’s defense is starting to get healthier, while Matt Canada’s offense will likely remain somewhat of a dumpster fire after the bye. The Steelers have failed to top 13 points in 3 of their past 4 games, and in their last game before the bye Pickett averaged 5.0 YPA while taking 6 sacks.
