New England Patriots 2022 season recap
Last season was a rollercoaster for Mac Jones. The Alabama product didn’t have the best start to the season which led to Pats fans demanding for backup Bailey Zappe to replace him. That’s never a good sign for a guy that is supposed to be the franchise quarterback. He did bounce back for a decent end to the season, but New England failed to make the playoffs. Oh, the Tom Brady era feels so long ago at this point! But there were other positives, like their cornerback group ascending to a top-10 rank in football as well as Rhamondre Stevenson becoming New England’s primary back.

New England Patriots 2023 NFL season predictions
The Patriots were in the DeAndre Hopkins mix for a few weeks, but unfortunately for New England and Mac Jones, Hopkins landed with the Titans. So once again, receivers are expected to be the Patriots’ weak link. Last season, Jones couldn’t seem to find any chemistry with a receiver besides Jakobi Meyers, but that’s going to have to change because Meyers is now on the Raiders. New England’s defense is going to be solid, but can Mac get on the same page as his receivers?
Here are a couple of my New England Patriots-related predictions for the upcoming season.
Best bet: New England Patriots Over 6.5 Wins (-140)
New England’s 2023 schedule is treacherous — and I don’t say that lightly. The Pats have the hardest schedule in the NFL for this upcoming season which is why I understand that their win total is as low as it is. However, I still think that the line is too low. New England is coming off an 8-9 season in which they showed some potential to reach 8 wins again, and I’m optimistic about their 2023 season. Obviously, I’m expecting losses against the Bills, Chiefs, Eagles and Chargers, but I think they have a chance to reach 7 wins by beating the Commanders, Broncos, Saints, Colts, Giants, Steelers and Raiders. Make no mistake, I don’t expect the Pats to be a playoff team, but they are an above-average team in an incredible AFC East. Getting 7 wins seems attainable for New England in 2023.
New England Patriots season record prediction: 7-9
There’s a chance the Pats could finish with anywhere from 6 wins to 8 wins this season. Six wins if they lose the games they are expected to and fumble some games they should win, but 7 or 8 wins is reachable if they win the right games. As we saw last season against the Bengals and Raiders, the Patriots had a habit of blowing games in the final minutes (roll the clip in their Week 15 loss to Vegas), so it was absolutely possible for them to end with a 10-7 record. Now, their schedule is much, much harder this season. But that doesn’t mean 7 wins is out of the question. The AFC East is difficult, but I still believe the Pats can finish with a respectable 7-9 record.
