Kansas State ML (+105) over Michigan State
The Kansas State Wildcats are the most popular underdog in Thursday’s games, and it’s easy to see why. They started the tournament with a double-digit win over Montana State and kept the momentum going against a solid Kentucky team with a 6-point win in the round of 32. Their offense has been the story thus far, as Kansas State’s starting lineup is full of elite scorers who can create shot opportunities on any possession. The core of Keyontae Johnson, Markquis Nowell, Nae’Qwan Tomlin and Desi Sills have led the Wildcats for the last several months and have not backed down in the March Madness spotlight.
Michigan State completed a huge upset over Marquette in the second round as the Spartans capitalized on the Golden Eagles’ turnovers. If Kansas State is careless with the basketball, Michigan State will make them pay. However, the Wildcats had just 8 turnovers in their win over Kentucky, and they’re playing the best basketball of their season at the right time.

UConn -6 (+135) over Arkansas
The Arkansas Razorbacks pulled off one of the crazier upsets of the tournament as they beat the #1 seed Kansas 72-71 in the round of 32. Their suffocating defense was the primary reason for their upset, and getting 46 points from Ricky Council IV and Davonte Davis also helped. And while it may seem like it will only get easier for Arkansas since they’ve already taken down a #1 seed, that’s not the case. UConn has won 8 of its last 9 games and won both March Madness games by double digits. The Huskies’ 3-point shooting has propelled them to this point as they’ve shot 44% and 45.5% from deep through 2 games.
Their knockdown shooters on the perimeter have been key to their success this season, and if the Huskies want to keep their hopes alive in this tournament, they need to stay hot from 3-point land. UConn has been dominant in the tournament so far, and I think they’ll bring Arkansas back to earth with a win.

Tennessee -7 (+115) over Florida Atlantic
These teams have had very different journeys to the Sweet 16. Tennessee beat Louisiana Lafayette in the first round and then defeated a surging Duke team by 13 points. The Blue Devils were one of the hottest teams in college basketball as they entered March Madness with a 9-game winning streak, so for the Volunteers to beat them by double digits was impressive. In the Sweet 16, they take on Florida Atlanta, which has beaten the #8 seed Memphis and the #16 seed FDU. FAU lucked out by FDU pulling off a historic upset over Purdue in the first round, so has had an easier schedule than anticipated. But that ends on Thursday as the Volunteers are an excellent basketball team with an elite defense. FAU has had a fun run, but it should end against Tennessee.
