Following a wild and unpredictable regular season, this year’s NCAA Tournament has got off to a terrific start. Now that we’re in the second week of the action, these Sweet 16 games feature the best teams remaining in the field and we should see some excellent matchups as a result. With so many exciting games, I have combed through the board and found a few edges that I believe can create a parlay with an excellent payout at over 12/1 odds!
Let’s take a look at my 3-team mega parlay on Friday, but make sure you also check out our March Madness basketball picks for the day’s biggest games, especially after we went 7-1 last night!

San Diego State ML (+285) over Alabama Crimson Tide
To start off our Sweet 16 mega parlay, we’re taking a big swing with San Diego State money line. Between the pair of #1 seeds in action on Friday, I think the one that is more likely to go down is actually the top overall seed. Alabama has coasted to the Sweet 16 and the Crimson Tide probably have the best overall roster in the nation. However, Alabama’s strategy of shooting a ton of 3-pointers and generating attempts at the rim is not something that creates issues for San Diego State.
The Aztecs have one of the best defenses in the country, ranking 4th in 3-point field goal percentage allowed and sitting at 5th in adjusted defensive efficiency per KenPom. San Diego State won’t get out and run in transition with Alabama, as a slower-paced game in the halfcourt is more to the Aztecs’ liking. In a game that I see coming down to the wire, I’ll take a shot with the underdog.

Houston Cougars -7 (-110) over Miami Hurricanes
For the second leg of our mega parlay, we’re going with Houston against the spread. The Hurricanes were extremely fortunate to get past Drake in the opening round, as the Bulldogs scored just 1 point in the final 6 minutes to lose that contest. And while the Hurricanes were fantastic in a win over Indiana, this Cougars team is an entirely different animal on defense — particularly on the perimeter.
Houston showed its depth and excellence on both sides of the ball in a dominant second-half effort over Auburn and I’d expect that momentum to continue on Friday. Marcus Sasser should be close to 100% for this one, which should also be a big boost for the Cougars. The Cougars should feast on the offensive glass and I expect them to control the tempo and limit the transition opportunities for Miami’s terrific guards.

Creighton Blue Jays -10 (-110) over Princeton Tigers
To close out our mega parlay, we’re going with Creighton to cover the spread against Princeton. Creighton has been extremely impressive thus far in the NCAA Tournament, getting past NC State in the Round of 64 before defeating Baylor on Sunday in convincing fashion. If you’re attuned to the likes of KenPom and BartTorvik, the Jays appeared to be underseeded in this tournament compared to their statistical profiles. This has been one of the best teams in the nation since the return of big man Ryan Kalkbrenner, as the Jays rank in the top 25 in both adjusted offensive and defensive efficiency per KenPom. Princeton has had an extremely impressive run to the Sweet 16, but the Tigers’ cinderella story should end here.
