The Phoenix Suns were able to pick up a 110-99 win in Game 1 of their series against the New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday. They will be looking to make the most of home-court advantage once again tonight. The visitors, on the other hand, will be hoping to get off to a better start than they did in their last outing. They lost the first 2 quarters in the first meeting, ending up down by 19 at the half. If they can stop the Suns from running away early tonight, we should be in for an entertaining contest.

Jonas Valanciunas 16+ rebounds (+196)
Chris Paul over 17.5 points (-104)
Devin Booker over 4.5 assists (-128)
Parlay odds: +954
Jonas Valanciunas 16+ rebounds (+196)
Jonas Valanciunas of the Pelicans was an absolutely dominant presence on the glass in the first game of this series. The Lithuanian was able to pull down 25 rebounds in total, including a season-high 13 offensive boards. That looks set to continue tonight as the Suns have had a tough time preventing opponents from crashing the boards. On the season they are just 21st in opponent offensive rebounds per game. Going up against centers such as Deandre Ayton and JaVale McGee also helps Valanciunas. Neither big man can step out to the perimeter to pull Valanciunas away from the basket. That should leave him in a prime position to do damage on the defensive rebound front too. The 16 rebounds mark looks very reachable for the Pelicans center.

Chris Paul over 17.5 points (-104)
Last season, Chris Paul of the Suns upped his points-per-game average to just over 19 in the playoffs. If Sunday’s game is anything to go by, he looks set to more actively look for his shot this year too. Paul dropped 30 points against the Pelicans, making 75% of his field-goal attempts. The visitors looked to disrupt Paul by matching up the taller and longer Herbert Jones against him, but this had little effect on the point guard. He is one of the best in the league in getting to his spots. With him making 54.1% of his pull-up 2-point jump shots on the season, it seems unlikely that he will see a major drop-off in efficiency tonight. Back the over on his points.

Devin Booker over 4.5 assists (-128)
With Paul taking a larger scoring role for the Suns, Devin Booker seemed content to act more as a facilitator. He ended up with 8 assists on Sunday and should be set for another great passing night. He averaged 5 assists per night in 4 games against the Pelicans in the regular season. Including the playoff game, he has now managed 5 or more assists against them in 3 straight contests. Booker should remain effective in dishing the ball in pick-and-roll situations. Valanciunas can struggle to recover to the paint when put in those positions, which gives the Suns guards a clear target to aim for in the paint in Ayton. Considering how effective he is at finishing lob passes, assists should be easy to come by for Booker.
