Feels good to start the new NBA week with a same-game parlay, doesn’t it? My +1262 parlay landed on the Jazz vs Suns game last night and I’m going at it again tonight with the LA Lakers vs Brooklyn Nets matchup!
Tip-off is set for 7.30 pm ET with the game airing live on TNT. Our predictions on the side and total for the rest of Tuesday’s 9-game slate are also available, but let’s focus on the Lakers and Nets for now.
Brooklyn Nets ML (+132)
James Harden to score 35+ points (+285)
Patty Mills to score 20+ points (+255)
Parlay odds: +2057
Brooklyn Nets ML (+132)
The Nets have already beaten the Lakers once this season 122-115 on the road, in a game in which they were without the services of both Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. They were able to overcome a 39-point game from LeBron James in that one and they also shot 44% from three-point land which made a big difference.
The Lakers haven’t improved much since — they are just 8-12 on the road this season and have covered in only 9 of those 20 games. They are getting back Anthony Davis here, but that could present a chemistry issue as they implement their big man into the rotation after he has been out for more than a month. Brooklyn will be without KD and Kyrie, but with 2 wins in their last 3 games they look a good bet at these odds.

James Harden to score 35+ points (+285)
With the 2 top scorers out for the Nets, Harden will once again be expected to carry the majority of the load offensively. In that game earlier against the Lakers this season, he had a triple-double to the tune of 36 points, 10 boards and 10 assists. He also attempted 25 shots without KD and Kyrie and a whopping 17 free throws. I expect a similar level of aggression tonight, and without a productive night from him the Nets won’t stand much of a chance here.
In Harden’s last 5 games against the Lakers, he has scored 35 or more points twice and for his career in 43 meetings with them he is putting up 26.5 points per game. Matching up with a defensive liability in Russell Westbrook, there is no doubt in my mind that the Beard will have a big game here.
Patty Mills to score 20+ points (+255)
Mills will start in place of the absent Kyrie Irving here and I think he will get at least 15-18 shots in tonight’s game. He got really hot from three-point land in the earlier meeting with the Lakers draining 8 of 13 shots and finishing the game with 34 points. It is also worth noting that Mills is averaging 18.6 points per game this season in games in which both KD and Kyrie are not playing. He attempts an average of 13.9 shots per game in those games while shooting almost 49% from the field and makes an average of 4.1 threes. With these Lakers being one of the worst defensive teams on the road this season, allowing 112.7 points per game, I think Mills won’t have that many issues getting to at least 20 points.
