The NBA season is still just getting started, and we have a small but interesting slate on Tuesday. There are only four games on the docket, and one of the best is this Western Conference showdown between the Denver Nuggets and Portland Trail Blazers. It’s a rematch from last year’s playoffs, so there’s plenty of intrigue here.
What better way to make this nationally televised matchup (TNT) even more entertaining than by betting a same game parlay? We also, of course, have thoughts on the side and total for each of tonight’s mega matchups.
Denver Nuggets ML (+235)
Damian Lillard to score 30+ points (+265)
Same game parlay odds: +1416
We’ve got a two-leg parlay, which pays out north of 14/1 with FanDuel Sportsbook. Let’s break it all down:
Denver Nuggets ML (+235)
To start off this same game parlay we have the Nuggets on the money line. Denver has been banged up recently, but they could get back Nikola Jokic from his wrist injury. Jokic is questionable for this one, and with this being a pivotal nationally televised game I think there’s a good chance he returns. If he does, then getting better than 2/1 here turns into an absolute steal. If he doesn’t, then I’m still not counting Denver out and think they have a good chance to win. The Nuggets absolutely need this game to snap their mini skid.
With this being a primetime game with all eyes on them, we can expect an all-out effort no matter who is on the floor. Denver has played the last two games without Jokic, and it has lost both. One was an ugly loss, but that was on the road against the Suns. In the other one they actually only lost by six to a really good Bulls team. Both Aaron Gordon and Will Barton were fantastic that night. And I’m also just not scared at all of the Trail Blazers right now.
Damian Lillard to score 30+ points (+265)
We are keeping things simple with only one other leg for our same game parlay. One of the biggest stories of the early going of this NBA season was Lillard’s poor shooting. His scoring dipped dramatically, but now oddsmakers have overcompensated. Lillard is usually an MVP-caliber player, his shooting slump was never going to last. He appears to be breaking out of it and just dropped 39 in his most recent game. Now is the time to buy low while you still can.
I also don’t think this conflicts with the first leg of our same game parlay. Lillard scoring more doesn’t really mean his team is playing better. If anything it could indicate that his teammates are failing to hit shots and he feels the need to take on a bigger load. In each of Portland’s last three losses, Lillard has scored at least 26. So a scenario where Lillard drops 30 but the Nuggets still win is very plausible. And we are getting better than 14/1 for it.
