We have a nice NBA slate on Sunday, with plenty of opportunities for value. The nightcap of the slate is a good one as the Los Angeles Lakers host the New Orleans Pelicans. And what better way to celebrate than by betting a same game parlay? We’ve also got thoughts on the side and total for each of the day’s matchups, and we will have SGPs for all nationally televised games as well, which you can always find in our analysis section.

Let’s dive right in:

New Orleans Pelicans -6.5 alt spread (+215)

CJ McCollum to record 35+ points (+800)

Parlay odds: +1912

We have a two-leg parlay here, one which pays out at north of 19/1 with FanDuel Sportsbook. Let’s break down each of the legs:

New Orleans Pelicans -6.5 alt spread (+215)

To start off this same game parlay we have the Pelicans on an alt spread. I think it’s a bit ridiculous that the Lakers are narrow favorites here. Los Angeles wasn’t anything better than mediocre even with Anthony Davis, and now AD is sidelined with yet another injury. The Lakers are just 3-8 in their last 11 games, with two of those three wins coming against rapidly spiraling Knicks and Trail Blazers team. Somehow, though, there is a contingent that seems to believe everything is just fine in Los Angeles.

No matter how poorly they play for how long, nobody seems willing to accept that the Lakers just aren’t a very good team. The Pels on the other hand have been playing a lot better recently. They are coming off a 15-point road win over the Suns, and their deadline trade for CJ McCollum signaled they aren’t throwing in the towel on this season. Which brings us into our next leg….

CJ McCollum to record 35+ points (+800)

This correlates nicely with the first leg of our same game parlay. If the Pelicans are winning comfortably, it likely means that McCollum has kept up his recent scorching hot play. McCollum has played six games with New Orleans now, and he was understandably still getting adjusted in the first one and was a bit shaky. But in the five games since he’s scored at least 30 points four times, and he hit 35+ in two of those. In two of his past three games he’s taken 25+ shots from the field, and it’s clear the offense runs through him now. The Lakers’ defense has declined sharply from last season, so I don’t see any reason to believe McCollum won’t have another big game here.
