There are 8 games this Sunday in the NBA and I’m going to attempt to land my 2nd same-game parlay of the week following my +1262 winner on the Jazz vs Suns game on Monday.
I’m focusing on the early tip-off between the Los Angeles Lakers and Atlanta Hawks at 1:00 pm ET, continue reading below to see my bet. Our predictions on the side and total for the rest of Sunday’s 8-game slate are also available, but let’s focus on the Lakers and Hawks for now.
Los Angeles Lakers -4.5 alternate spread (+340)
Trae Young to score 30+ points (+164)
Parlay odds: +1445
Los Angeles Lakers -4.5 alternate spread (+340)
Sure the Lakers are missing LeBron James, but both Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook should suit up. Russ had 35 points and 5 assists in the last game against Charlotte, and AD had 31 and 12 boards in the game before that against Philly. Although Davis suffered a minor hand sprain against Philadelphia, he should play and his size and length will be a matchup nightmare for whoever the Hawks throw at him. The Lakers have 4 wins in their last 5 games on the road in Atlanta, and they’ve also beaten the Hawks in 9 of the last 11 games overall. In games against Southeast Division opponents LA has gone 6-1 ATS in the last 7. Despite their current winning streak, the Hawks are just 13-11 at home this season, which is far from convincing. It’s also worth mentioning the Lakers won the first meeting of the season between the teams, by 134-118 in early January.

Trae Young to score 30+ points (+164)
Opposing backcourt players have been feasting against the Lakers this season, mainly because of Westbrook’s lack of awareness on the defensive end. Over their last 5 games they had LaMelo Ball and Terry Rozier score 20 against them. James Harden had 33, Duncan Robinson had 25 and even rookie Jalen Suggs had 22. I’d argue Young is as good if not better than all 5 of those when it comes to scoring, so he should also have his way with the Lakers defense. He’s scored 30 or more points twice in the last 5 games against the Lakers, and in January he’s averaging 27.6 points per game and already has a 56-point game. In the game against the Lakers earlier this season he finished with 25 points and 14 assists.
