The defending NBA champions will be visiting Los Angeles tonight to take on the Clippers. The Bucks are in 3rd place in the Eastern Conference, just a game behind the leaders. With a real shot of securing the top seed, look for them to come out aggressively against a team that will possibly be without its 2 biggest stars for the rest of the season.

The Los Angeles Clippers recently pulled off a big trade. The hosts tonight have added Norman Powell and Robert Covington to their team, which is an upgrade over the outgoing Eric Bledsoe in the long run. Neither player is on the injury report and they could be set to make their debuts in this game. Considering they have not spent long with the team, chemistry could be an issue, especially on the defensive end. The Clippers are just 17th in defensive rating over the last 10 games and could have trouble reaching that standard. After all, Bledsoe was one of the best defenders on their roster this season. With the Bucks offense consisting of several high-scoring players in Jrue Holiday, Khris Middleton and Giannis Antetokounmpo, they should have enough firepower to cover the spread tonight.

Giannis Antetokounmpo over 28.5 points (-110)
The former MVP will have a favorable matchup against the Clippers. His opponents here are 27th in the league in opponent points in the paint and 22nd in blocks per game. If the Clippers deploy Ivica Zubac on him, Giannis should have success in transition and off the bounce. If it is someone like Nicolas Batum, the Greek forward should be able to dominate with his size and strength. There is no one on the Clippers than can pick him up one-on-one, and with the shooters around him, double-teaming him may not prove to be an effective defensive strategy either. Antetokounmpo has scored 29 or more points in 8 of his last 10 games and it does not seem that the Clippers have what it takes to contain him.

I expect the Clippers to throw everything at Antetokounmpo at times, which will give him opportunities to find his teammates. He is more than a capable passer, with 5 games of 8 assists or more so far in 2022. Over the last 10 games the Clippers are allowing the 24th-most assists to opponents. They also allow teams to shoot at a 36.5% clip from beyond the arc over that stretch, which puts them 22nd in the league. That should mean that when Antetokounmpo does kick it out to the perimeter, his teammates should be able to make shots efficiently. The Clippers are just 17th in defensive rating during that time but in the top 10 in terms of pace. It should lead to a high-scoring night for the Bucks, with Antetokounmpo picking up his fair share of assists.
