A sizable 9-game slate is in store for the NBA on Wednesday, and it is headlined by a doubleheader on ESPN starting at 7:30 pm. After the Memphis Grizzlies visit the New York Knicks, the Utah Jazz are hosting the Denver Nuggets. Let’s take a look at the best same game parlay option for Nuggets vs Jazz, and also be sure to check out our full game preview for picks on the side and total.
Nuggets ML (+124)
Nikola Jokic to score 30+ points (+180)
Bojan Bogdanovic over 20.5 points (-108)
Parlay odds: +944
Part of the value in same game parlays, of course, is that all of its components can be correlated if you so choose. That is some of the plan here, as Nikola Jokic pouring in points would obviously go well with a Denver win. At the same time, plays that aren’t correlated drive up the overall payout of the parlay. That is the case with backing Utah sharpshooter Bojan Bogdanovic to get buckets. But even if he does, there is no reason why the Nuggets can’t get the job done. Let’s break down each of the three legs.
Nuggets ML (+124)
The Nuggets are coming off a 130-115 loss to Minnesota on Tuesday, but don’t forget that they took down defending champion Milwaukee 136-100 on the road last weekend. Now their 6-game road trip is coming to an end, and they should be inspired with the finish line in sight and a return home on the immediate horizon. Jokic is an MVP candidate and he got plenty of help from Aaron Gordon (team-high 24 points) and Bryn Forbes (14 points off the bench) against the Bucks. Shockingly, Utah has lost 5 games in a row. Things may not get any better in the immediate future, either. Center Rudy Gobert is expected to be out until mid-February, guard Donovan Mitchell is suffering from a concussion, and forward Joe Ingles was just lost for the season because of a torn ACL. This is a good opportunity for Denver to win outright as a small underdog.
Nikola Jokic to score 30+ points (+180)
Jokic has gone 5 straight games without reaching the 30-point mark, but during this stretch he has point totals of 28 and 29. Prior to this stretch the Nuggets’ star big man delivered 49 points and 34 points in the span of 3 contests. It’s only a matter of time before Jokic goes off again and facing Utah without Gobert is the perfect opportunity. The Jazz just aren’t the same team – especially not on the defensive end of the floor – when Gobert is absent. Over the past 3 games, Utah is dead last in the NBA (by a country mile) in points in the paint allowed with an average of 60.7.
Bojan Bogdanovic over 20.5 points (-108)
Bogdanovic has to shoulder more of the scoring load when Gobert, Mitchell, and Ingles are gone. He has been doing just that, too, with more than 20 points in 4 of the last 6 contests (his season average is 17.9 ppg). Bogdanovic has enjoyed plenty of success against Denver, too. In 3 head-to-head matchups this season the 32-year-old is averaging 24 ppg on 51% shooting from the field.
