We’ve got seven games for this Monday NBA slate, and one of them is this nationally televised East vs. West showdown between the Washington Wizards and Houston Rockets. It’s the second and final chance for Russell Westbrook to get revenge on the team that traded him this offseason. It’ll also be the second time that John Wall and Bradley Beal play against each other after sharing a backcourt for years in Washington.
What better way to make this nationally televised showdown even more entertaining than by betting a same game parlay? We’ve also got thoughts on the side and total, which you can find out in our full game preview.
Houston Rockets to win by 11+ (+360)
Washington Wizards over 115.5 points (-105)
Parlay odds: +3098
We’ve got a two-leg parlay here, one which pays out north of 30/1 with FanDuel Sportsbook. We get a huge odds boost by combining the Rockets win margin with the over on Washington’s points, when I really don’t think they conflict too much. All we need is a shootout, which certainly isn’t uncommon in today’s NBA. Allow me to explain:
Houston Rockets to win by 11+ (+360)
The market has overreacted to Washington’s big upset win over the Celtics, and to a recent bad stretch from the Rockets. Houston has still been the much better team overall, and when these teams played a few weeks ago the Rockets won by 19. When the Wizards lose, they tend to lose big. In fact each of their last nine losses have all come by at least 11 points, so if you think they’re going to lose here +360 on this alt line would seem to present some serious value.
Meanwhile, five of Houston’s last six wins have come by at least 11 points. With this being a homecoming for Wall, I also think his teammates will be extra motivated to play well for him. Washington is just 3-9 at home this year vs. 4-8 on the road, so it doesn’t seem like they have any discernible home court advantage.
Washington Wizards over 115.5 points (-105)
We get a massive odds boost by combining this with a big Rockets win, when I don’t think it conflicts too much. Shootouts are common in today’s NBA, and they’re even more common in Wizards games. Washington is giving up an eye-popping 119.1 points per game, the worst mark in the entire league. If there’s any team that’s most likely to lose a game by double digits while still scoring at least 116 themselves, it’s the Wizards.
They’re still capable of scoring with the best of them, and they’ve already played in plenty of games that would fit this bill. Just five days ago they lost 137-115 to the Raptors, coming only one point short of what would’ve cashed this parlay. Less than two weeks ago they lost 132-121 to the Trail Blazers, which would’ve cashed this parlay. Clearly this kind of result isn’t that big of an anomaly for them, so getting better than 30/1 odds here presents a lot of value.
