During that stretch, he had not recorded fewer than 8 in a game. Against a Knicks offense that could be missing Brunson, there should be plenty of misses to chase down for him. The Mavericks will remain without rookie Dereck Lively II for tonight’s game. Having to deal with Isaiah Hartenstein in the paint, look for the likes of Doncic to have a bigger role in contributing to rebounding efforts.

Kyrie Irving has recorded 2 steals in 3 straight games. With Brunson potentially being out, the level of playmaking on the Knicks should drop off, opening the door for Irving to keep this defensive streak going. The Knicks are not normally a turnover-prone team but with Malachi Flynn, who was acquired mid-season running the show, things could look much different on that front. It helps that Irving has had a good season defensively so far, averaging 1.4 steals per game. He has the reach which should help him jump passing lanes. With Julius Randle also out, expect the Knicks to look disjointed offensively, and for Irving to take full advantage.
