Detroit Pistons -3.5 over Charlotte Hornets (-112)

These two teams have a couple of things in common coming into this game. Both of them have gone 1-4 SU over their last 5 games and both have recorded a win over the Brooklyn Nets during that stretch. Although they’re not yet officially eliminated from playoff contention, it’s only a matter of days until that happens, so the pressure will be off both teams here. I’m leaning towards the Pistons just because of the way they won the two meetings earlier in the season.

Charlotte is also dealing with a lot more injuries than the Pistons who are 5-2 ATS in the last 7 meetings. On the road the Hornets have been a disaster at just 7-25 SU, plus they’ve covered the spread only 12 times in those 32 games. At 5-26 SU the Pistons won’t blow anyone away with their home record, but at least they’ve been able to keep their games somewhat close going 14-16-1 ATS. It probably won’t be a pretty game to watch, but the Pistons should be able to squeeze this one out in front of the home fans.

Miles Bridges to score 25+ points (+140)

The Charlotte Hornets are pretty much eliminated from playoff contention, I don’t think we’re breaking any news with that statement. So what else is there to do for a player like Miles Bridges, other than trying to impress potential suitors with as many points scored in these remaining 18 games or so? Aside from LaMelo Ball who has been out injured for months now and Terry Rozier who has been traded away weeks ago, Bridges is the Hornets leading scorer right now at 21.3 points per game. He is a capable scorer, so far in March he’s scored at least 20 in 4 of 5 games and is averaging 22 per game.

He’s no stranger to having off nights too though, a 3-for-16 effort and just 7 points scored against Orlando last week has brought down his averages quite a bit. Still, I think he could be in for a high scoring game here, neither the Hornets nor Pistons will care too much on defense as winning this game isn’t a priority for either squad. Bridges is averaging 24 points per game in the last 5 meetings with the Pistons, he’s cleared this line in 3 of those games.

Cade Cunningham to record 8+ assists (-170)

Cunningham has really upped his game in the month of March so far, posting averages of 23.6 points and 9.2 assists per game. I’ve particularly been impressed with his play making, in 3 of the 5 games played in March he’s been able to dish out double digit assists which is really hard to do with a limited roster on offense like the Pistons are.

Only 4 teams in the entire NBA allow more assists per game than these Hornets who are at 28.2 a night. Detroit would be smart to try and push the pace a little here, they’ve done so over their last 5 games ranking 3rd overall in the NBA with an average of 100.8 possessions per game. It’s also worth mentioning that Cade is averaging 8.2 assists per game in wins compared to 7.4 per game in losses, so if the Pistons are going to win this game it will largely depend on the production of their best player.
