The NBA week continues with a 7-game slate on Wednesday, headlined by a doubleheader on ESPN that features Golden State, Philadelphia, New Orleans and the Clippers. Also on the schedule is an Eastern Conference showdown between the Atlanta Hawks and Boston Celtics. Here is my Hawks vs Celtics Same Game Parlay for Wednesday’s contest, which tips off at 7:30 pm ET. Also, be sure to check out our NBA picks for tonight’s matchups.

Hawks +11.5 (-110)

Trae Young to make 4+ three-pointers (+170)

Jayson Tatum to score 30+ points (+120)

NBA parlay odds: +834

Part of the value in a Same Game Parlay, of course, is that all of its components can be correlated if you so choose. That is some of the plan here, as Trae Young draining a handful of 3-pointers would obviously work well with an Atlanta cover. At the same time, plays that aren’t correlated drive up the overall payout of the parlay. That is the case with backing Jayson Tatum to reach the 30-point mark. But even if that happens, there is no reason why the Hawks can’t be competitive. Let’s break down each of the 3 legs.

Atlanta Hawks +11.5 over Boston Celtics (-110)

The Celtics are coming off a 40-point win over a depleted Grizzlies squad and now they are double-digit favorites once again. It would not be a big surprise if they get caught napping on Wednesday. Obviously, the home team is expected to get the job done, but it would not be a big surprise if the Hawks keep it close. The visitors have actually been playing good basketball of late. They had won 4 in a row before losing to the Clippers – the hottest team in basketball – in a wildly entertaining 149-144 affair on Monday.

Young is into the All-Star Game as an alternate following injuries sustained by Joel Embiid and Julius Randle, but he will still be playing with a chip on his shoulder since he did not get in directly. Young has been red-hot in recent weeks and is averaging 28.9 points and 11.1 assists on the road this season. Atlanta has been playing hard, knowing it needs every win it can get in a bid for the Eastern Conference play-in tournament. Look for this contest to be closer than expected.

Trae Young to make 4+ three-pointers (+170)

All signs point to a big night for Young. Not only is he playing great basketball (at least 30 points in 4 of the last 6 games), but he also went for 33 in the Hawks’ first visit to Boston earlier this season. In that game, he drained a whopping 6 triples on a ridiculous 16 attempts from long distance. In 2 games against the Celtics last year, Young averaged 31.0 points per game. Although the C’s are good defensively, they haven’t been too stingy at the 3-point line of late. In a surprising home loss to the Lakers a couple of games ago, they let L.A. go 19-for-36 from the land of plenty. Young has made at least 6 shots from deep in 3 of the last 4 contests, so count on him keeping it going on Wednesday.

Jayson Tatum to score 30+ points (+120)

This play really doesn’t conflict too much with Atlanta covering a +11.5 spread, as Tatum will be more inclined to take matters into his own hands throughout the night if the game is competitive and/or if Boston is losing. Plus, Tatum scoring 30 or more points is commonplace; it’s not like the Celtics are guaranteed to crush opponents whenever the former Duke standout is getting buckets.

Moreover, whenever the Hawks take the court the game is expected to feature a ton of points. Atlanta often covers – and with ease – even when it is giving up points in bunches. Tatum has scored at least 30 points in 2 of the last 3 outings. He delivered 34 against Atlanta earlier this season and in 4 head-to-head matchups during the 2021-22 campaign, he averaged 31.3 ppg. Another 30-pointer is well within reason for Tatum in this contest.
