We’ve already reached April, and the MLB regular season is well underway. There are plenty of emerging storylines for this year, but one thing remains: betting on early runs or lack thereof remains a hot commodity. Today presents a unique slate for early scoring, so let’s dive into my favorite bet, which you can cash after just two innings of play.
New York Mets vs Miami Marlins: No Runs 2nd Inning (-145)
I’ve been eyeballing this one the moment I saw the pitching matchup. We get 2 proven pitchers who both missed a handful of games last season but looked poised for bounce-backs in Spring Training. On one side we have Kodai Senga, who looked great in Spring. He finished with a 2.00 ERA over 3 starts. He gets a matchup against Miami, which is due to come back down to earth a bit. Miami enjoyed a 3-1 start to the year against a weak Pittsburgh team, but against this Mets squad, they should get humbled quickly, as shown in Game 1 of this series. Miami’s bats don’t scare me whatsoever.
On the other side, all we need from Sandy Alcantara is 3 outs. We should likely avoid Alonso, Lindor and Soto, which leaves us with the rest of the bats that aren’t as scary. The Mets have only scored in the 2nd inning once this year in 4 tries. Sandy is a tougher opponent than Hunter Brown, who they faced that day.
New York Mets vs Miami Marlins Run Line Pick: Mets +3.5 (-1300)
Mets +3.5 feels like a safe juice reducer, as the regular NRSI is hovering around -160. We are 3-1 on these bets this season and have dominated them in the past as well! 6 outs and a dream, let’s have some fun, and let’s roll!
