The MLB All-Star Game has come and gone which means the second half of the season is on deck and the playoffs are on the horizon. This has already been a very eventful season, but the best is yet to come, including what should be a terrific stretch run and postseason. But before the second half of the campaign gets underway and the trade deadline rumors heat up, I’ll be taking a look at the World Series futures odds and see what value can still be extracted from the market. I’ve already placed 1 unit on my favorite World Series future, so let’s get right into it, but you can also check out our MLB mid-season futures best bets.

MLB World Series 2023 best bet: Atlanta Braves (+330)

It’s never exciting to recommend a bet on the World Series favorite, but this is the rare case where I actually see value in this number. Prior to the start of the season, the Braves were as high as +1000 to win the World Series. This was a preposterous number then, and while their odds have shifted considerably in the months since Opening Day, Atlanta is still slightly undervalued compared to how good this Braves team is.

As my colleague Keith said, the Braves simply do everything well. This is a deep, talented and battle-tested lineup that has absolutely mashed opposing pitching all season long. Per ESPN, Atlanta ranked 2nd in runs per game, batting average and on-base percentage heading into the all-star break, while ranking 1st in slugging percentage, OPS and home runs as well. With a hitting core of Ronald Acuna Jr., Matt Olson, Austin Riley, Ozzie Albies and Orlando Arcia, this is a lineup that every team across the league will fear come October.

On the other side of the ball, the Braves starting rotation is inside the top 10 in ERA and FIP, while the bullpen ranks 3rd in ERA, 1st in FIP and 7th in opponent batting average. The scariest part? Atlanta doesn’t even have the services of lefty ace Max Fried, who has been out since May due to injury. When he rejoins the staff, this team will be nearly unstoppable. The Braves should stack wins down the stretch and coast to the best record in baseball.

The biggest reason why I’d grab the +330 on the Braves now is their path is very manageable. While the Dodgers are a formidable foe in the National League, Los Angeles has serious injury concerns that won’t be solved by the time October rolls around. No one else in the NL should challenge Atlanta, and most of the American League contenders have serious warts as well. The Rays suddenly look mortal, the Blue Jays can’t pitch, the Astros have been hit with the injury bug and the Orioles and Rangers are simply unproven. It would be foolish to project any of these AL teams as favorites in a potential World Series matchup with the Braves, which just makes grabbing this number now even more attractive. Don’t hesitate to back the favorite down the stretch.
