Let’s break down each of the three legs one by one.
Padres vs Giants under 7 (+105)
Sean Manaea was excellent in his Padres debut as he completed 7 innings while not allowing a run or a hit against the Diamondbacks. Logan Webb continued his success from last season and allowed 1 run on 5 hits in 6 innings during his first start against the Marlins. Both starters have a FIP at 3.00 or lower against the other team, so with 2 solid starters and an above-average bullpen, this game should be low-scoring from the start.
Logan Webb under 5.5 strikeouts (-125)
As solid as Webb is, he’s not typically a strikeout-first type of pitcher. He is a ground-ball pitcher because he relies heavily on his sinker and changeup combo, which results in a high chase-rate from the hitters. Yet, Webb’s whiff rate is not very high, and he likely won’t have more than 3 or 4 strikeouts against a solid offensive team like the Padres. Expect Webb to have another solid day on the mound, but not a ton of swings and misses.
Jake Cronenworth over 1.5 total bases (+130)
Not a lot of Padres hitters have had success against Webb, but Cronenworth is one who has. The infielder is 3-for-9 and has not struck out against Webb during his short time against the San Francisco ace. Cronenworth has also started the season well, hitting .250, and I expect that to rise in the coming games. Getting Cronenworth over 1.5 bases at plus odds seems like a steal, so I’ll take it and make it the third leg of the parlay.
