Mother Nature left her mark on the games yesterday since we had 2 postponements and numerous rain delays. However, yesterday’s rain means we have a packed Wednesday slate. There are 17 games happening today, and it starts with the Diamondbacks vs Guardians in Cleveland. And to wrap the day up, the Phillies and Dodgers have their series finale at 10:10 pm ET. I’ve found 3 picks to create today’s MLB parlay, so let’s get right to it! You can also see our individual MLB picks for the matchups on Wednesday, August 7.

Padres -1.5 (+115)

Orioles -1.5 (+112)

San Diego Padres -1.5 over Pittsburgh Pirates (+115)

The series opener was a rollercoaster. After a 2-hour delay and a warning track that had slowly turned into a lazy river, the game resumed with neither of the two starting pitchers on the mound. The Padres were able to come away with a big win, and I’m expecting a similar score tonight. San Diego is sending right-hander Michael King to the mound for his 22nd start of the season.

King was an important piece of the Juan Soto trade in the offseason, and after a shaky start, King has been phenomenal for the Padres. He owns a 3.26 ERA and a 3.46 xERA, but perhaps what is even more impressive is that he holds a 28% strikeout rate and just a 30% hard-hit rate. Basically, he gets plenty of swings-and-misses, but when they make contact, it’s usually weak contact. King has made 2 starts in the second half of the season and has surrendered just 3 runs and 4 hits with 15 strikeouts in 13.1 innings against the Guardians and Orioles. As for King’s offense, the Padres will face Marco Gonzales, a lefty that is sporting a 6.14 xERA and a .307 xBA. Take the Padres for another multi-run win.

Baltimore Orioles -1.5 over Toronto Blue Jays (+112)

Trevor Rogers’ first start for the Orioles didn’t go as planned. Rogers had allowed 2 runs or less in 8 of his previous 9 starts for the Marlins, but his first start for Baltimore came against a red-hot Guardians lineup. Cleveland smacked Rogers around for 5 runs and 6 hits in a little over 4 innings of work. Even with his poor performance in his last outing, I’m backing him tonight. The Blue Jays have been a disappointment at the plate all season and they have especially struggled against left-handed pitching. In fact, the Blue Jays rank 24th in batting average, 24th in OPS and 21st in wRC+ against left-handed pitching since June 1. Rogers’ counterpart will be Bowden Francis, a right-hander that has a 5.64 ERA and a 5.44 xERA in 18 appearances. He’s bounced between the bullpen and starting rotation, and I’ll happily take advantage of him moving back into the starter role today.

Boston Red Sox ML over Kansas City Royals (+122)

The Red Sox have been listed as the underdog in their last 3 straight games. Boston has won all 3 games — including both in this series. A win tonight would be their 4th straight as an underdog as well as a sweep over the team that is fighting them for the same Wild Card spot. It’s a huge game for both teams, and the Royals are sending Cole Ragans to the hill. Ragans has developed into the ace of the staff with a 3.36 ERA and a 3.29 xERA in 23 starts. However, home runs and walks have been his Achilles Heel. Since July 1, the southpaw has allowed 3 home runs and 11 walks in 5 outings. The Boston lineup is a patient group that will take their walks when needed, so although Kutter Crawford hasn’t given me too much confidence recently, I’m backing the red-hot Red Sox to win their 4th straight.
