The young 2024 Major League Baseball season continues with a full 15-game slate on Wednesday. It includes a trio of afternoon contests, with Arizona, St. Louis, San Francisco, Baltimore, the Mets and the Angels taking the field. The nighttime schedule features an ESPN+ showdown between Toronto and Kansas City at 7:40 pm ET. Below is my MLB parlay for Wednesday, while you can also read all of our MLB picks for today’s games.

Cleveland Guardians -1.5 over Boston Red Sox (+168)
Break up the Guardians! They are 17-6 and dominating in every facet of the game. Cleveland has given up a total of 73 runs, leading Major League Baseball by a country mile in that department. At the plate, only Arizona, Atlanta and Baltimore have scored more than Cleveland’s 128 runs. The Guardians are now facing a Red Sox squad that is a decent 13-11 but dropped the series opener 4-1 on Tuesday.
Wednesday’s contest features Carlos Carrasco on the mound for the Guards. He boasts a 3.44 ERA through 4 appearances and has not allowed more than 2 runs on any occasion since his first start of the year in which he gave up 3 runs in 5.0 innings against the A’s. Boston is countering with Cooper Criswell, who ran into Cleveland last Thursday and surrendered 4 runs (1 earned) in 2.1 innings of work during a 5-4 loss. The Guardians are 4-1 against the Sox so far in 2024 with a run differential of 25-14; I expect the story to be the same tonight.

Atlanta Braves -1.5 over Miami Marlins (-120)
You have to feel good when you are starting off a parlay with the 2 best teams in baseball. Yes, the Guardians are #1 with a .739 winning percentage and the Braves (16-6) are right behind at .727. Nobody else is particularly close. Much of Atlanta’s record can be attributed to opposition coming in the form of Miami. The head-to-head series so far this season stands at 4-1 in favor of the Braves, including 2-0 this week in Atlanta.
Through 2 games at Truist Park, the Marlins have not scored a single run, losing 3-0 on Monday and 5-0 on Tuesday. The visitors failed to capitalize on 8 hits against Bryce Elder before being completely befuddled by Max Fried from start to finish (Friend went a full 9 innings) in the second contest. Wednesday’s series finale pits Atlanta’s Reynaldo Lopez against Miami’s Sixto Sanchez. Lopez is sporting a 0.50 ERA through 3 starts that have spanned 18.0 innings. I’m not sure if the Fish will score a run tonight. Even they do, it almost certainly won’t be enough to keep this game competitive.

Detroit Tigers ML over Tampa Bay Rays (+100)
Although the Tigers certainly aren’t in the class of Cleveland and Atlanta, they are getting along quite nicely in the early stages of the 2024 campaign. A young, talented ballclub is set up extremely well for the future, but even the present is bright. Detroit is 14-10 and has won 3 in a row, including 2 straight at Tampa Bay’s expense to begin this 3-game series. The visitors will be going for a sweep with Jack Flaherty on the mound. Flaherty has worked at least 6.0 innings in all 4 of his starts this year and his numbers include a 30-to-4 strikeout-to-walk ratio. The Tigers have won 3 of his 4 starts. Tampa Bay is using a bullpen day, so Detroit most definitely owns the pitching advantage. At plus-money odds (albeit right on the number), the Tigers have great value.
