The dog days of the MLB season are here as the playoff races heat up. With that comes another slate of baseball from coast to coast on Wednesday. And what better way to celebrate than by going for a big payday? That’s right, we’re back with another mega parlay with a payout of over 9/1 at FanDuel Sportsbook.

But before we dive in, be sure to check out our picks for every MLB side and total today. Let’s get into our mega parlay for Thursday.

Boston Red Sox -1.5 (+115)

Chicago Cubs -1.5 (+114)

Best parlay odds: +907 at FanDuel Sportsbook

Let’s break down each of the legs one by one.

New York Mets -1.5 (+120) over Atlanta Braves

To start off this mega parlay, we are going with the Mets on the run line. New York was red-hot heading into its series with Atlanta this week, but the Braves have come to play. Atlanta took the first 2 games of the series and has the Mets reeling a bit. However, New York should flip the momentum of Wednesday, and it all starts with Max Scherzer. Scherzer continues to be one of baseball’s best starters in 2022, posting an ERA of 1.93 through 102.2 innings. He’s already experienced success against Atlanta of late, striking out 11 hitters in 7 innings of shutout work. I see no reason why Scherzer wouldn’t continue to thrive on Wednesday.

On the other side, the Braves will counter with Jake Odorizzi. The former Astros starter has been decent over his first 2 starts in Atlanta, but that won’t cut it when Scherzer is the opposing pitcher. The Mets won’t need to score a lot of runs to give Scherzer the cushion he needs, and the Braves momentum will be briefly halted in this NL East showdown.

Boston Red Sox -1.5 (+115) over Pittsburgh Pirates

For the second leg of this mega parlay, we’re going with the Red Sox on the run line. After a promising weekend against the Yankees, the Red Sox have an opportunity to capture some rare momentum. The postseason is still within reach for Boston, but they need to take care of business against inferior teams. The Pirates are the perfect candidate for picking up such victories. as Pittsburgh has had issues filling out their starting rotation ever since dealing lefty Jose Quintana at the trade deadline. In this one, the Pirates will be forced to turn to another reliever in Roansy Contreras.

Contreras hasn’t seen the mound since the beginning of July. And that appearance wasn’t pretty, as he allowed 7 runs in just 1.2 innings pitched. Now, Contreras faces a Boston lineup with some of the league’s best hitters in Rafael Devers and Xander Bogaerts. Boston’s lineup has not remained solid, even as its pitching has deteriorated. However, the Pirates have the 5th-worst OPS against left-handers, which is a bonus for Rich Hill. The last time Hill pitched against a lineup that hit lefties poorly was the Guardians (2nd-worst OPS). In that start, Hill held them to a single run in a convincing Red Sox win.

Chicago Cubs -1.5 (+114) over Washington Nationals

For the final leg of our mega parlay, we are going with the Cubs on the run line. The Nationals took the series opener on Monday, as they had their ace Josiah Gray on the mound. However, Washington’s league-worst pitching staff looked more like themselves on Tuesday in a loss. Now, look for those struggles to continue to be on display in Washington. Ian Happ and the Cubs are playing better baseball of late, and they have a short trip to look forward to following this game. Drew Smyly will get the start for Chicago, and he should see success against the Nats.

Smyly is more than familiar with the Nationals, as he used to pitch in the NL East. The veteran has yet to lose to the Nats, and is coming off of a great start, striking out 9 batters in a win in last week’s Field of Dreams game. After Patrick Corbin on Tuesday, the Cubs will face Cory Abbott in just his 4th outing this the season. Abbott looked rough in his last 2 starts, surrendering 10 runs across just 7.1 innings, both of which resulted in losses. The Nationals should continue to crawl towards the finish line as the Cubs wrap up the series in style.
