David Peterson over 4.5 strikeouts (-116)
Red Sox vs Mets Over 8.5 (-110)
Boston Red Sox ML (+126)
Garrett Richards under 4.5 strikeouts (-142)
Parlay odds: +1829
David Peterson over 4.5 strikeouts (-116)
Peterson has only pitched three times this season and gone over 4.5 strikeouts twice. He even reached double digits in this one. The issue for Peterson is the fact that he doesn’t last long. He’s only pitched into the 5th inning once so far. Still, it’s hard to ignore the fact that he has a 31% strikeout rate on the season. That won’t hold all year, but it should tonight. Franchy Cordero, Kevin Plawecki, Christian Arroyo, Hunter Renfroe and Bobby Dalbec are all sporting an over 28% strikeout rate over the last seven days. If we get at least three of those guys in the lineup tonight, Peterson gets at least five strikeouts.
Red Sox vs Mets Over 8.5 (-110)
Even though there should be some strikeouts from the Red Sox side, they should still score runs. Only two Red Sox have actually faced Peterson before but BVP stats really don’t matter anyway. Boston is fourth in MLB in average versus left-handed pitching which should come into play tonight. They won’t be the only team scoring as the Mets should cream Garrett Richards. Richards has given up 12 earned runs in only 16 innings pitched so far this season. We should see some runs tonight.
Boston Red Sox ML (+126)
It’s hard to fade the Red Sox as they are 14-9 on the year and have looked good in all facets of the game. This one is likely to come down to bullpens as both starters should give up a few runs. On the season, the Red Sox bullpen has looked above average and they are used to getting work after pitching the sixth-most innings in MLB. The Mets on the other hand are a totally different story. Their relievers have only seen 48 innings of work which is the fewest of any team in the majors by almost 20 innings. This one will be won late by Boston.
Garrett Richards under 4.5 strikeouts (-142)
It’s crazy that Richard’s strikeout prop is at 4.5 when you consider the fact that he hasn’t gone over this number yet this season. He’s had two starts where he only recorded two strikeouts. He doesn’t go deep into games, he walks a lot of batters and he gives up runs. There just isn’t a lot of meat on this bone. The perfect scenario is he throws four innings or so, strikes out four but gives up two or three runs. That is certainly in the realm of possibilities.
