The 2021 MLB season is wrapping up and the playoffs are rapidly approaching. We have a nice slate on Tuesday though, with plenty of opportunities for value. One of the best games is this NL West showdown as the San Diego Padres take on the Los Angeles Dodgers. What better way to make this heated rivalry game even more exciting than by betting a same game parlay?

Walker Buehler to record 8+ strikeouts (+360)

We have a simple 2-leg parlay which pays out north of 10/1 with FanDuel Sportsbook. Let’s break it down:
Los Angeles Dodgers -2.5 (+184)
To start this mega parlay we’ve got Los Angeles -2.5. These teams are headed in opposite directions. The Dodgers just reached 100 wins in their most recent game, and are locked in a tight battle for first place in the NL West with the Giants. San Diego, on the other hand, has been an unmitigated disaster, completely collapsing while losing 13 of their last 16 games. The Padres are coming apart at the seams, and with nothing left to play for there’s no reason to believe they’ll reverse their momentum here at the end of the season.
Padres starter Yu Darvish has been declining just as sharply as the rest of the team. In each of July, August, and September, he’s had an ERA of 6.32 or higher. That’s pretty hard to do. Now he’s going on the road to face one of the best lineups in all of baseball. Darvish has an ERA that’s more than two runs higher on the road than it is at home. The Dodgers should pick up yet another lopsided win here.
Walker Buehler to record 8+ strikeouts (+360)
Now is the time to buy low on Buehler. The Cy Young contender has had a couple of uncharacteristic bad starts recently, which has caused oddsmakers to depress this total. This play also correlates heavily with the first leg of our same game parlay. If he’s making batters whiff, the Dodgers are much more likely to cover the -2.5. Buehler has got to at least 8 strikeouts in 7 of his past 13 starts, so getting +360 here is just absurd. He’s also got to at least 8 punch-outs in 2 of his 4 starts against the Padres this year. All we need to cash this same game parlay is one gem from Buehler, and considering he’s been one of the best pitchers in the big leagues this year, I certainly think we’ve got a better than 1/10 chance of seeing that.
