Yankees -1.5 over Guardians (+100)

The Yankees’ lineup is once again among the best in the business. It took them 10 games to hit any type of drought. After putting up a pair of runs in the first inning last night, the Yankees went 8 scoreless innings as Shane Bieber settled in for the Guardians and secured a 3-2 win. While the bats may have gone quiet, New York should bounce back in in the second game of the series now that Bieber won’t be a concern. The Guardians will have right-hander Hunter Gaddis taking the mound. Gaddis has shown signs of promise, but he sure isn’t Gerrit Cole. That’s who the Yankees will be starting on Tuesday night. Cole has been stellar to start the year, recording 19 strikeouts while allowing only 1 earned run over 12.1 innings of work. After Cole, New York holds a significant advantage with the bullpen – which leads the league in strikeouts per 9 innings at 11.85 and an xFIP of 3.12.

Red Sox ML over Rays (+155)

The 10-0 Tampa Bay Rays are still chasing history as they are just a few wins shy of the all-time record to begin a regular season. However, they had a scare on Monday night when it took them an 8th-inning home run to win 1-0 in the series opener against the American League East rival Red Sox. Tonight the Rays will have ace Shane McClanahan on the mound against a Red Sox lineup that is missing right-handed power bat Adam Duvall. So why can Boston win? Well, the lineup still poses several threats – including Rafael Devers, who is a career 7-for-17 off McClanahan with a home run. The Red Sox are a top-5 offense this season in run value/100 off fastballs and changeups, which are McClanahan’s primary pitches. Meanwhile, Boston is countering with Garrett Whitlock on the mound and that bodes well for its chances of an upset. Whitlock is backed by a stellar bullpen that is top 10 in xFIP so far this season.

Reds vs Braves Over 9 (-110)

The series opener was looking like a 1-0 win for the Braves for much of the game, then the bats suddenly got hot late. Cincinnati forced extra innings and even took a 4-3 lead in the 10th only to see Sean Murphy hit a walkoff 2-run homer in the bottom of the frame for a 5-4 Atlanta victory. The Braves will try to make it 2 in a row on Tuesday by sending Kyle Wright to the mound. Wright was awesome in 2022, but he started this year on the injured list and is just now making his season debut. It wouldn’t be surprising if he shows some signs of rust. Wright is facing a Cincinnati lineup that has started much better than it did in 2022, but the good news for the right-hander is that he should get a lot of run support from one of the most dangerous lineups in baseball. It’s hard to see Cincy’s Luis Cessa containing the Braves.
