The week in Major League Baseball continues with a 12-game slate on Thursday. It includes 5 afternoon matchups, as teams wrap up various series before heading to their next destinations. Among them are Pirates vs Brewers and Blue Jays vs Tigers, before the nightcap features the Braves taking on the Diamondbacks. You can find out our MLB picks for today’s big matchups, but for now, let’s get into my MLB parlay picks for Thursday, July 11.

Chicago Cubs ML over Baltimore Orioles (+114)

Although Justin Steele only has 3 wins to show for his efforts so far this year, he really hasn’t fallen off much – if any – from his breakthrough 2023 campaign. The left-hander missed basically the entire first month of the season, which partly explains his lack of victories. He heads into Thursday’s start with a 2.95 ERA and 1.00 WHIP. Having Steele on the mound is obviously good news for the Cubs, who are a disappointing 44-49 but have won 3 games in a row and 5 of their last 6. A sweep of the Orioles would do wonders for this club as the all-star break approaches. Baltimore has dropped 4 of its last 6 contests and Gunnar Henderson has homered just once in the last 12. With Steele on the bump, Chicago has nice value as a small underdog.

New York Yankees -1.5 over Tampa Bay Rays (+145)

Will a much-needed 2-1 victory over the Rays on Wednesday stop the bleeding for the Yankees? New York is 2 games behind Baltimore in the AL East, having cooled off dramatically since a hot start to the season. Nestor Cortes toeing the rubber should help the visitors’ chances of winning the rubber match of this 3-game set. Cortes is sporting a 3.41 ERA and 1.06 WHIP this season in addition to a 106-to-20 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 111.0 innings of work. The left-hander has compiled a 2.92 ERA through 12.1 innings against Tampa Bay in 2024. It’s true that the Yankees haven’t been good of late, but the Rays haven’t been much better. They are 45-47, just unable to really get anything going. Shane Baz is on course to make his second appearance of the year and 11th of his career. Give me Cortes and company to prevail by multiple runs.

Atlanta Braves -1.5 over Arizona Diamondbacks (+114)

Atlanta has taken 2 of the first 3 games of its series in Arizona and looks poised to finish it in style with Max Fried on the mound tonight. Fried struggled against the high-powered Phillies in his most recent outing, but he compiled a 2.04 ERA in May and a 2.76 ERA in June. The overall sample size of his success this season far outweighs anything that happened against Philadelphia last week. Fried should get plenty of run support, too, in part because Marcell Ozuna continues to mash the ball. Ozuna has homered 3 times in the last 6 games, including a 2-run shot on Wednesday – giving him 24 for the season to go along with 75 RBIs. He and the rest of the Braves’ offense should be able to victimize Diamondbacks starter Brandon Pfaadt, who has been unspectacular in 2024 and is dealing with a minor ankle injury at the moment.
