The dust has settled a little bit on a very busy week in the MLB. Thursday presents just a 6-game slate in the MLB before chaos starts right back up on Friday. There are still plenty of questions regarding the remainder of the regular season and a few of tonight’s games should get us a little bit closer to some answers. With just over 20 games remaining in the regular season, this is now a sprint to the finish line.

If you’re looking to have some betting action, check out our MLB mega parlay at +964 odds below. You can also read our MLB predictions for picks on every game today.

Detroit Tigers vs New York Yankees Under 8.5 (-112)

The under has hit in 5 out of Detroit’s last 6 games and in 8 out of their last 9 on the road. The total has also gone under in 5 out if the Yankees’ last 6 games and in 5 out of their last 6 head-to-head against the Tigers. Detroit’s lackluster run production has been the driver of lower totals. The Yankees are on fire right now but their totals have stayed low, as well. Neither team has shown any indication of bucking low totals trends.

The starting pitching matchup also reinforces the appeal of a low total. Eduardo Rodriguez will start for the Tigers and Carlos Rodon will get the start for the Yankees. These lefties have shown very high upside and as of late have both performed well. With each pitcher being in decent form facing an offense that does not or is not producing well, the under has a good look — even at just 8.5 runs.

Atlanta Braves -1.5 over St. Louis Cardinals and Over 11.5 (+265)

The Cardinals have taken the first 2 of this 3-game set with a bit of authority. This Braves team will not be swept by this Cardinals team. Atlanta is the best team in baseball while St. Louis is one of the worst. Unless the Braves completely mail it in, they should be able to take care of business. Atlanta is 10-4 in its last 14 and 13-5 in its last 18 at home. The Braves face Adam Wainwright, who has an 8.10 ERA across 18 starts this year. Look for a big bounce-back from the Braves.

There have been 34 runs scored in 2 games in this series, again due to the Cardinals doing the heavy lifting. As mentioned, the Braves have a very favorable matchup against Wainwright and they should do their part in driving up the game total. But while it’s unlikely that the Cardinals put up a third consecutive 11-spot, they still have the offensive upside to do their part, as well. This one has the makings of a high-scoring game.

Chicago Cubs ML over Arizona Diamondbacks (-185)

The Diamondbacks and Cubs have trended in very different directions at a time that has been ideal for Chicago and far from ideal for Arizona. The Diamondbacks still find themselves in the thick of playoff contention being just a half-game out of a wild-card spot, but they have an uphill battle against a scorching hot Cubs team. Chicago has won 4 out of its last 5 games and its last 5 straight played at home. That is just the most recent part of a stretch in which they have the highest win percentage in baseball since July 18.

The Cubs are the better team in better form. They would be tough to pick against just about any team in baseball with a few obvious exceptions. The Diamondbacks are not one of those exceptions as they are 3-6 in their last 9 games. Until the Cubs start to cool off even a little bit, they have been a very reliable pick and should continue in that way.
