A modest 10-game schedule is on the docket for Thursday as the week in Major League Baseball continues. As usual, Thursday isn’t especially busy with various teams in between series. Nonetheless, there is plenty to work with as we try to formulate a winning parlay. The slate includes an American League West showdown between the Angels and Rangers on FS1, while the nightcap pits the White Sox against the Dodgers.

Below is my mega parlay, and also be sure to check out all of our MLB picks.

Twins -1.5 (+100)

Cubs -1.5 (+136)

Astros -1.5 (+110)

MLB parlay odds: +891

For this parlay we are going with 2 favorites on the run line and an underdog on the money line. Let’s break down each of the 3 legs.

Twins -1.5 over Tigers (+100)

I’ll happily roll with the Twins since they have Sonny Gray on the mound this evening. Gray has been great in 2023, with a 4-1 record and 2.25 ERA to go along with 76 strikeouts in 72.0 innings. Now he faces a Detroit lineup that is dead last in Major League Baseball with just 241 runs scored. Matthew Boyd of the Tigers has been stellar on the road this season, but there is no real rhyme or reason to that and you have to think he will regress to his overall averages (5.55 ERA, 1.35 WHIP) sooner rather than later. Detroit is reeling, too, having been swept in a doubleheader by Atlanta on Wednesday after holding leads in both games. Look for the Twins, who have won 4 of their last 5 contests, to keep rolling.

Cubs -1.5 over Pirates (+136)

The Cubs are finding their groove right now — at least at the plate — and have their best pitcher on the mound today at Wrigley Field, so there is a lot to like about their chances. Chicago has won 4 of its last 5 games, including 2 in a row to begin this series against Pittsburgh. The Pirates even had a 5-1 lead on Wednesday only to see the Cubs storm back for 6 runs in the 6th inning to prevail 10-6. Now Chicago has Marcus Stroman toeing the rubber and he is 7-4 with a 2.42 ERA and 1.04 WHIP. The Cubs have won 5 consecutive contests pitched by Stroman, who has recorded the victory on all 5 of those occasions. Pittsburgh is countering with Johan Oviedo, whose road ERA in 2023 is 4.60 (compared to a 3.86 home mark). The Pirates are 2-5 in their last 7 and dangerously close to slipping back to .500 for the first time since April 3, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see their woes continue.

Astros -1.5 over Nationals (+110)

The pitching matchup between Houston’s Cristian Javier and Washington’s MacKenzie Gore should favor Javier. He is the much better pitcher with a 7-1 record and a 3.13 ERA in 13 starts. Javier was a vital member of the Astros’ 2022 campaign that saw them to the World Series title, boasting a 2.54 ERA and a 2.43 xERA in addition to a .168 xBA. Hitters have figured him out a little bit more this season, but they still don’t have a great read on him. Nothing suggests that a bland Nationals lineup will tag him for a lot of runs on Thursday. Meanwhile, the ‘Stros should fare well against Gore. The left-hander relies on his 4-seam fastball for 60% of his pitches, which has been detrimental to his success since opponents have a .302 batting average against that pitch. Even with Yordan Alvarez sidelined due to injury, Houston will likely roll.
