San Diego Padres ML over Los Angeles Dodgers & Over 8.5 (+310)

To start off our MLB parlay, I’m going with the Padres on the money line, plus the over 8.5 runs between San Diego Padres and the Los Angeles Dodgers. This is a pretty correlated position on a game that I’ve got San Diego as a very short favorite, even on the road. If the Padres want to keep their NL West division hopes alive, they are going to need a solid outing from Joe Musgrove, who has tossed 18 innings of scoreless baseball in 3 of his last 4 outings (the lone exception coming in an outing against the Giants on September 8). On the other side, Walker Buehler continues to be a massive liability for the Dodgers, even though Los Angeles needs him to eat some more innings to close out this regular season. Buehler will have flashes of brilliance for an inning or 2 that remind you of his form a couple of years ago, but more often than not he gets rocked by any competent lineup (5.61 ERA, bottom 3 percentile in WOBA). Look for San Diego to push across some early runs and chase the veteran pitcher by the 5th inning.

As for the total, I have a strong lean toward the over in this game due to the quality of the 2 pitchers and the excellence of these lineups. As I’ve mentioned in previous articles over the past month or so, the Dodgers’ offense is a completely different beast now that Los Angeles has finally gotten all of its guys back in the lineup after extended periods of poor play due to a rash of injuries over the summer. At this stage of the game, we know what we’re getting with this group on a nightly basis, and the same can be said of this red-hot Padres lineup that should be licking its chops at the prospect of taking on a pitcher in Buehler who has struggled mightily with surrendering runs in bunches this season. Let’s back the over as a correlated play with the Padres on the money line in this one.

Baltimore Orioles ML over New York Yankees (+124)

To close out this MLB parlay, I’m going with the Baltimore Orioles on the money line against the Yankees. Baltimore has gotten back on track after a pair of wins in New York, and in turn, the Yankees’ shot at the top seed in the American League playoffs is suddenly in major jeopardy. Now, the reeling Yankees will have to face Corbin Burnes, who hasn’t allowed a run over his past 15 innings of work and looks like a pitcher who is in complete command of his stuff at the moment. Burnes’ expected metrics are almost universally excellent and with just 4 runs surrendered over his last 30 innings pitched, it doesn’t seem like many lineups can tough him at the moment. Gerrit Cole has largely been outstanding in September, but his expected metrics aren’t as elite as they once were years ago, plus this Orioles lineup represents a massive step up in confidence for Cole’s workload lately. Let’s get to the window with Baltimore to win on the money line.
