The 2021 MLB season kicked off over a month ago now, and the action has been jam-packed. Why not make the action even more exciting by going for a big payday on Sunday? That’s right, we’re back with another MLB mega parlay, this time a three-teamer with a payout north of 14/1, where we’re counting on the Padres to make it six wins out of seven.
We just cashed our MLB mega parlay on Wednesday at +1618 odds, let’s do it again on Sunday. We’re going big and bold, so let’s not waste any more time. We’re diving in, but don’t forget to check out our picks for the side and total on every MLB game, with our team of experts in red-hot form to start the season.
Detroit Tigers ML (+120)
Oakland Athletics -1.5 (+170)
San Diego Padres -1.5 (+165)
Parlay odds: +1474
Let’s break down each of the three legs one by one.
Detroit Tigers ML (+120)
Don’t look now, but the Tigers are quietly starting to pick up steam. Detroit looked like the worst team in the league early on, but they’ve now won five of their last six games. The offense that looked pitiful is now producing, and they’ve scored at least seven runs in three of those contests. They beat Chicago on Saturday by scoring nine, and will now have Matthew Boyd on the mound here. Boyd has easily been their best starter, entering with a 1.94 ERA and 0.94 WHIP.
Cubs starter Kyle Hendricks is on the opposite end of the spectrum, with a 6.23 ERA and 1.67 WHIP. Last time out Hendricks got shelled by the lowly Pirates, so it’s not like you can count on him getting things turned around just because he’s facing the Tigers. With a big edge on the mound here, getting the Tigers at home at plus-money has value.

Oakland Athletics -1.5 (+170)
Before we get to the Padres, the A’s have some value in the afternoon slate. Oakland just lost a tough game on Saturday when Miguel Sano hit a game-winning home run. I’m not reading too much into it however. The Twins had been ice cold before that, losing eight of their previous nine, and one win isn’t enough to fix all their problems. Oakland will start Chris Bassitt here, who has been really solid this season.
He’s gone six straight starts without giving up more than two runs. Minnesota will counter with Kenta Maeda, who’s in the midst of a really down year. Maeda has a 5.08 ERA, and outside of one good start against the Rangers he’s been terrible the past month. In his three other most recent starts, Maeda has given up 14 earned runs in only 13 and 2/3 innings.
San Diego Padres -1.5 (+165)
Turning our attention to the nightcap, where the Padres can hopefully bring us home. San Diego has been hot even without Fernando Tatis Jr. in the lineup, as they’ve now won five of their last six. Including the first two games of this series. In three of those six games, the Padres have scored at least eight runs. The Cardinals will start Kwang Hyun-Kim, whose ERA doesn’t tell the full story.
His 2.74 ERA is letting us get a better price here, but his 1.26 WHIP says it won’t last. In any case, he’s yet to pitch deeper than 5 and 1/3 innings in any of his five outings this year. The Padres will start young lefty Ryan Weathers, and the rookie has only given up two runs and nine hits in 22 and 1/3 innings of work. That’s a 0.81 ERA.
