We are wrapping up the first full week of the 2023 Major League Baseball season with a full 15-game slate on Easter Sunday. It is headlined by the Sunday Night Game of the Week on ESPN between the San Diego Padres and Atlanta Braves. Up first is a 1:05 pm ET meeting between the Cincinnati Reds and Philadelphia Phillies, while one of the more intriguing matchups pits the St. Louis Cardinals against the Milwaukee Brewers.
Below is my mega parlay for Sunday, and also be sure to check out all of our MLB picks.

Phillies -1.5 over Reds (+115)
The Phillies lost their first 4 games by a combined score of 37-12. Since then they have won 3 out of 4, which includes 2 straight victories over the Reds. It is too early in the season to make any definitive statements about a team or their caliber, but it is not exactly going out on a limb to say that the Phillies are the better team in this game. They are too deep to let a tough start to the season sustain, and they finally have some momentum now. Cincinnati is in clear rebuilding mode. Philadelphia starter Taijuan Walker got touched up in his first outing of the season last week but should be able to bounce back and quieten the Reds’ bats.
Cardinals ML over Brewers (+130)
The Cardinals have been on fire offensively, hitting .307 as a team (the best in the league) and striking out only 55 times. They will be facing Freddy Peralta, who has been great throughout his career and threw 6.0 shutout innings to start this year. While he has been stellar, he has historically been bad against the Cardinals (ERA of 6.59 in 12 appearances and a record of 2-4). He has lasted 3.0 innings or less in 3 of his last 4 starts against St. Louis and has lost his last 3 starts. The Brewers’ offense has also started the year well, but they aren’t as complete top-to-bottom as the Cardinals. There is great value on this team that just shut out the Brewers 6-0.

Rangers ML over Cubs (-104)
Jon Gray will take the mound for Texas after allowing only 2 earned runs on 2 solo home runs across 6.1 IP in his season debut against Baltimore. Getting away from Colorado and pitching his home games at Coors was a great decision for Gray’s career. Last season the veteran right-hander ranked league-average or better in nearly every batted-ball metric while also displaying a 69th percentile strikeout percentage. Behind him is the Texas bullpen who has been tremendous, ranking 3rd in ERA and 4th in WHIP so far. The Cubs are countering with Jameson Taillon, who had an underwhelming debut in his first start as a Cub by allowing 7 hits and 3 earned runs in only 4.0 innings. Sweeping an opposing team of similar skill level is hard to do, so Texas should be able to recover in this series and get a win.
