There are a full 15 games on the Sunday schedule as the week in Major League Baseball comes to a close. In fact, the entire “first half” of the season is coming to a close, as the All-Star break begins following today’s action. There is no Sunday Night Baseball ESPN Game of the Week, but the usual early Peacock game is taking place and it features Texas and Washington at 12:05 pm ET.

I cashed my last Sunday mega parlay at +1233 odds, so let’s keep the momentum going! Below are my plays for Thursday, and also be sure to check out all of our MLB picks in addition to my best YRFI/NRFI bets.

Rangers -1.5 (-120)

Braves ML (+104)

Blue Jays -1.5 (+130)

MLB parlay odds: +760

For this parlay we are going with 2 favorites on the run line and 1 underdog on the money line. Let’s break down each of the 3 legs.

Rangers -1.5 over Nationals (-120)

Dane Dunning is taking the mound for Texas and it’s Patrick Corbin for Washington. Needless to say, that is an instant advantage for the Rangers. Dunning is sporting a 2.61 ERA and a 1.10 WHIP this season as both a starter and a reliever. He has been the starter in 11 of his 19 games and has a 2.86 ERA and a 1.18 WHIP in such situations.

Corbin has had a weird 2023 campaign. He was terrible at the start of it but then he allowed 2 or fewer runs in 4 straight starts in May and looked like a better version of himself. That didn’t last long, though, as he compiled a 1-4 record and 4.66 ERA in 5 June starts. In his last outing the lefty surrendered 6 runs on 10 hits in just 5.0 innings against Cincinnati. Count on Texas rolling.

Braves ML over Rays (+104)

The Braves are close to an automatic tail every time they take the field. You can almost blindly back them regardless of the opponent or any extenuating circumstance. With Bryce Elder toeing the rubber, today is certainly no exception. The right-hander is 7-1 with a 2.45 ERA this year. Not surprisingly, Atlanta is 13-4 in his 17 starts – including 4-0 in his last 4. The Braves are facing the second-best team in baseball (behind themselves) on the road this weekend, but so far it hasn’t mattered. They are going for a sweep of the AL-leading Rays following victories of 2-1 and 6-1 in the first 2 contests.

Zach Eflin is going for Tampa Bay, but right now it seems like there isn’t a pitcher on the planet who can entirely limit this Atlanta offense. With Elder pitching, if the visitors can cross the plate just a couple of times against Eflin it should be yet another W — which would give them a 28-4 streak to end the first half of the season.

Blue Jays -1.5 over Tigers (+130)

Chris Bassitt is rounding into form for Toronto heading into his final start prior to the All-Star break. Bassitt has not been at his absolute best throughout 2023, but he is coming off back-to-back quality starts. The right-hander struck out 12 while pitching 6.0 innings of shutout baseball against San Francisco and then held the White Sox to 3 runs in 6.0 innings to go along with 5 strikeouts and only 1 walk. He is opposed by Detroit left-hander Tarik Skubal, whose first start of the season on July 4 resulted in perfect baseball against the Athletics for 4.0 innings. Of course, 4.0 innings of work this entire is not a big sample size. That’s also the A’s we are talking about and these are the Blue Jays. They are 4-1 in their last 5 and should be able to wrap up the first half on a high note.
