The 2022 MLB season is in full swing and we have another full slate of games on Saturday. There are a number of intriguing matchups, including this National League clash between the Atlanta Braves and San Diego Padres starting at 4:05 pm ET.
What better way to celebrate this Saturday matchup than by betting a same game parlay? I just hit this same game parlay at +729 odds on Friday, now let’s make it twice this weekend! We also have thoughts on the side and total, which you can find out in our full game preview.

Manny Machado to record 2+ hits (+200)
Travis d’Arnaud to record a hit (-180)

We have come up with a 3-leg parlay, which would pay out at more than 7/1 odds with FanDuel Sportsbook. Let’s break down each leg.
San Diego Padres ML (+126)
After a disappointing end to the 2021 season, the Padres are playing up to their potential in 2022. San Diego sits tied atop the NL West with the LA Dodgers, and the Padres should be in competition for that division crown all season. The mood is a lot different for the defending champion Atlanta Braves, who remain below .500 after a disappointing start to their campaign. While the Braves are at home on Saturday, they should not be favorites with Charlie Morton on the mound.
Morton is struggling mightily with his command, and his numbers reflect that. The right-hander has a 5.65 ERA through 6 starts and has a WHIP of 1.64 in 28 innings pitched. Morton’s life won’t get any easier against a Padres team that is seeing the ball well and just hung 11 runs on Atlanta on Friday. And while Padres starter Sean Manaea is having an up-and-down season, don’t expect a Braves offense that ranks 21st in MLB to capitalize on Manea’s mistakes. At a plus-money price, I like the better team to get the job done on the road.

Manny Machado to record 2+ hits (+200)
Manny Machado has long established himself as one of the best hitters in baseball, and he’s been excellent at the plate in 2022. The third basemen already has 36 hits this season while hitting .371 and driving in 22 runs. Machado is a hit machine, recording 2+ hits in 5 of his last 10 games. He is a clear early-season MVP candidate, and we’re still getting 2/1 odds on him to have a multi-hit game. Furthermore, with 3 hits in 6 career plate appearances against Morton, Machado has a favorable matchup against the right-hander.
Machado has been the model of consistency, and I see no reason for his hot start to tail off. At the top of the Padres lineup, he should be expected to get at least 4 at-bats on Saturday. At this price, taking a stab on Machado to record another 2-hit game is worth a shot.
Travis d’Arnaud to record a hit (-180)
As a rule, including legs from both teams always increases your odds in a same game parlay. But I don’t think Travis d’Arnaud having success conflicts with the Padres picking up a win. While the Braves offense has been inconsistent to this point, d’Arnaud has been a a bright spot in the lineup. The catcher has 25 hits in 90 ABs this season and has the most RBIs of any hitter on the Braves. In this case, we don’t even need d’Arnaud to have a great game in order to cash this leg.
With 9 hits in his last 10 games, we’re getting a discount on d’Arnaud to record a hit. The catcher can be expected to get at least 4 at-bats, so I’m confident in backing him to deliver one hit at this price. Let’s hope that d’Arnaud stays hot.
