Mets ML over Giants (+105)

The Mets have been on cruise control during their 10-game West Coast road trip, going 7-1 while taking the first 2 games from the Giants with little resistance. New York has outscored San Francisco 16-4 in the series and come off a 7-0 victory last night when everyone in the lineup aside from Francisco Alvarez recorded a hit. It’s way too early to stary MVP talks, but Pete Alonso certainly looks like one of the frontrunners to begin the season. He is leading the National League with 23 RBIs and has a league-best 10 home runs. Meanwhile, it’s been a rough start for the Giants; they are 1-7 over their last 8 games and have only 6 wins to their name. It’s safe to say that not much has gone right, and in the Giants’ case it begins with their pitching. Through 19 games they have given up 101 runs — which comes out to 5.32 per game (26th in baseball). Look for the Mets to feast on Logan Webb (4.94 ERA) and pick up another win.

Braves ML over Astros (-104)

The Braves had no business losing last night’s contest and should be able to bounce back after blowing a 3-run lead against the defending World Series champions. Houston is starting Framber Valdez, who has a 3.30 ERA this year through 4 starts. Houston has lost 3 of those 4 outings. The Braves have won both of Kyle Wright’s starts and looked a lot better in most recent appearance – which was to be expected since he missed a couple of weeks to begin the 2023 campaign and was rusty in his first start. Atlanta has a 4.0 batting WAR, which is 4th best in baseball. The home team should be able to provide Wright with enough run support to get the job done.

Diamondbacks ML over Padres (+130)

Arizona exploded for 7 runs in the 8th inning last night to even up its series against San Diego. The Padres are starting Joe Musgrove, who will be making his first appearance of the season. He broke his toe in the preseason in a weight room mishap, then added a shoulder injury while building back up in the minors. Musgrove should be fine over the long haul, but there could be some rust on Saturday. The Diamondbacks are sending Merrill Kelly to the mound. Kelly has been solid for the most part and should have no trouble limiting a Padres lineup that is in nothing short of anemic form. They have scored 1 or 0 runs in 5 of their last 6 games. Well into plus money, Arizona has great value.
