A full 15-game schedule is on the docket for Saturday as the weekend in Major League Baseball continues. Ten of the contests are taking place during the afternoon, so there will be action on the diamond pretty much all day long. It all gets started with the Yankees hosting the Padres at 1:05 pm ET, while an even more likely World Series preview pits the Rays against the Dodgers.

For this parlay we are going with 2 favorites on the run line and a favorite on the money line. Let’s break down each of the legs.

Yankees -1.5 over Padres (+142)
After missing almost the first 2 months of the season, Yankees right-hander Luis Severino did not waste any time getting back in gear. In his 2023 debut he worked 4.2 innings of 1-run baseball while allowing just 4 hits and 1 walk and striking out 5 batters during a 4-1 win over Cincinnati. Now Severino pitches at Yankee Stadium for the first time this year after going 4-1 with a 3.14 ERA in the friendly confines of his own park during the 2022 campaign. Although Michael Wacha has been effective for the Padres, Anthony Rizzo is batting .396 (21-for-53) against him with 3 homers and DJ LeMahieu comes in at .389 (7-for-18) in the head-to-head matchup. I’ll take my chances on Severino getting enough run support for the Bronx Bombers to cover the run line.
Orioles ML (-120)
The Rangers and Orioles both came into the weekend as hot as anyone in baseball. The Orioles had won 7 of their previous 9 games and the Rangers had won 6 of 8. Baltimore got blown out on Friday but should be able to bounce back in this one. Dean Kremer of the Orioles has given up a total of 5 runs in his last 4 starts, while Andrew Heaney is also in fine form for Texas, but the O’s should have an advantage if this contest comes down to the bullpens. They boast the #2 bullpen in baseball from a statistical standpoint, while the Rangers are ranked 27th in that department. And it might even come down to the ‘pens given Kremer’s recent dominance.

Braves -1.5 over Phillies (+155)
Charlie Morton is toeing the rubber on Saturday and that is certainly good news for the Braves, who are missing both Max Fried and Kyle Wright. With those starters sidelined, Atlanta relishes any opportunity it has to send Morton to the mound. The veteran right-hander has already won 5 games in 2023 and his ERA was under 3.00 prior to getting roughed up a bit by the Dodgers in his last outing. Even against Zack Wheeler, Morton should get some run support. Ronald Acuna Jr. Is the frontunner for NL MVP award and he has homered 3 times off Wheeler, while Marcell Ozuna and Austin Riley are starting to heat up for Atlanta. Wheeler is saddled with an ERA north of 4.00, anyway, so it’s not like he is in dominant form.
