It’s the series finale day in the baseball world on Sunday, and one series that has drawn some attention is between the Giants and Pirates. Pittsburgh has had a rough going in the last month or so while the Giants are trying to stay in the NL West race, so I’ve made a Same Game Parlay at nearly 6/1 odds for the finale.
Giants ML (-146)
Henry Davis 3+ bases (+240)

San Francisco Giants ML (-146) over Pittsburgh Pirates
The Pirates had one of the most exciting and surprising starts to the baseball season. They went 19-9 in April and found themselves at the top of the NL Central after a month, but the good times didn’t last. Pittsburgh went 8-18 in May, 11-15 in June and 2-9 so far in July, so it has been a pretty steep dropoff for the Bucs. On Sunday afternoon, they are on the brink of getting swept as the Giants have taken the first 2 games of the series and will roll out Alex Wood for the finale.
Wood has had a really up-and-down season that has seen a lot of highs, but also some deep, deep lows. He’s thrown a shutout in 3 of his last 5 starts while allowing 11 runs in the other 2 outings, so that describes him pretty well. But fortunately for Wood, the Pirates offense has been truly laughable recently, and he should have a great chance of a quality start.

Henry Davis 3+ bases (+240)
As mentioned above, the Pittsburgh offense has been terrible. However, one Pirate who has been surging is Henry Davis. The highly-touted prospect has loved facing San Francisco pitching since he’s 4-for-7 with a home run in the series. The rookie will get to face the veteran Alex Wood today, and that should benefit Davis since he’s been smashing lefty pitching since the minor leagues.
He hasn’t faced much lefty pitching in the Majors yet, but of his 6 hits against southpaws, he has 2 extra-base hits. Since he’s had a multi-hit game in 2 straight and is facing a lefty, I like his chances of recording 3 bases today.
