We are putting a bow on another week in Major League Baseball with the Sunday night Game of the Week on ESPN, which features the San Francisco Giants and New York Mets. It’s the rubber match of this 3-game series, as they split the first 2 contests.

Here is my Same Game Parlay for this showdown between National League rivals, and also be sure to check out all of our MLB picks.

Giants ML (+110)

Under 9 (-120)

Thairo Estrada to score a run (+105)

Parlay odds: +500

Part of the value in same game parlays, of course, is that all of its components can be correlated if you so choose. That is some of the plan here, as Thairo Estrada scoring a run would obviously work well with a Giants victory. At the same time, plays that aren’t correlated drive up the overall payout of the parlay. That is the case with also backing the under, but even if Estrada crosses the plate there is no reason why the under can’t cash. Let’s break down each of the 3 legs.

Giants ML (+110)

The pitching matchup pits Ross Stripling of San Francisco against David Peterson of New York. Stripling will go somewhere between 3 to 5 innings and then hand it to the bullpen, which is not necessarily a bad thing given the strength of the Giants’ bullpen. Peterson has given up 21 runs in his last 5 starts — 4 of them Mets losses. In fact, New York has won only 2 of his 9 starts this season. It should also be noted that Peterson surrendered 7 runs to San Francisco in April. All in all, this sets up well for the visitors.

Under 9 (-120)

Peterson has been all over the place, but he delivered a scoreless effort last time out against the Brewers. Although it’s hard to see him shutting down San Francisco, at least the confidence from his most recent appearance should help him turn in at least a respectable effort on Sunday. It’s also supposed to be very rainy in New York. Balls probably aren’t going to be traveling. Even without taking weather into account, these offenses don’t inspire a ton of confidence. They combined for 5 runs on Saturday after producing 9 in the series opener. I’m counting on the under, mainly thanks to Stripling and the Giants’ relievers.

Thairo Estrada to score a run (+105)

Estrada is 3-for-7 lifetime against Peterson. The second baseman has also hit safely in each of the last 2 games, plus a 2-hit performance is not too far in the rearview mirror (Tuesday at Toronto). Estrada has scored 5 runs in the last 2 contests and you have to like his chances of crossing the plate at least once more at the expense of Peterson and the Mets.
