After cashing our Twins/White Sox same game parlay last night, let’s keep things rolling. It’s only fitting for the day to finish off with this NL West rivalry. The MLB and ESPN certainly know what they’re doing when it comes to scheduling the Sunday Night Baseball game in prime time. They may not have predicted the Padres huge moves at the trade deadline, but it makes this game all the more exciting. San Diego was out to make the next super-team to compete with the Dodgers by getting the likes of Juan Soto and others. However, it’s the Dodgers that still have the best record in the entire league. With so much familiarity between these teams, there’s plenty of information to use and make this finale profitable. Along with this same game parlay, be sure to check out our MLB picks for all of today’s games.

Dodgers ML (-165)

Mookie Betts 2+ total bases (-125)

Let’s take a closer look at each leg of our same game parlay.

Los Angeles Dodgers ML (-165) over San Diego Padres

To say this series has been back-and-forth would be a bit of an understatement. The Padres took the first game 7-1, while the Dodgers answered back in dominating fashion with a 12-1 last night. It took LA some time to announce a starter for this game, as Tony Gonsolin recently went on the injured list. They’ve decided to go with reliever Caleb Ferguson. While that may not sound great for another Dodgers win, keep in mind they have an elite bullpen that ranks as the 3rd-best in the league. In fact, that’s about the only aspect where they aren’t the absolute best.

They have the league’s best record at 91-41, are the World Series favorites, have the best team OPS, have scored the most runs by far with 707 and have the best team ERA. The list goes on, but the bottom line is that is why they are still significant favorites with Ferguson on the mound. Not only does he have other great relievers backing him up, the Dodgers have 3 NL MVP candidates leading off their lineup. Mookie Betts, Trea Turner and Freddie Freeman are all behind Cardinals’ Paul Goldschmidt, but combined for 6 hits, 2 homers, and 6 RBI last night alone. That’s a scary prospect for Padres starter Mike Clevinger.

He’s had his moments of brilliance, but his worst start by far was a start against the Dodgers. After allowing 5 runs in just 4.2 innings, the Padres fell handedly by a final of 8-3. That’s been a commonality between these teams, as the Dodgers have lost just 3 times out of their 12 meetings. It’s designated as a rivalry, but it’s been very one-sided. The Dodgers have also only lost back-to-back series once the entire year. That was back in the beginning of May, so don’t expect that to happen again in prime time against a team they dominate.

Mookie Betts 2+ total bases (-125)

Hey may not be winning the MVP this season, but Mookie Betts already has one under his belt. If not for missing some time this season, he’d likely be a bit closer to this year’s favorite. Regardless, he’s having an absolutely incredible season. His 265 total bases are tied with Nolan Arenado for the 2rd-most in the National League. The most impressive part of that statistic is the fact that he’s done it while having missed 18 of the team’s games. Despite that, he still has 33 home runs on the year, the 4th-most in the NL. He just homered last night and along with his triple, he racked up 7 total bases. This is also about his history against Clevinger. He’s 6-for-10 against him with a .800 slugging percentage. Betts has already proven to be matchup-proof, so that only provides further confidence in him hitting this prop once again.

Freddie Freeman 2+ total bases (-110)

We’re gonna finish things off with another former MVP-winner. Freddie Freeman is just 1 year removed from winning the World Series with the Braves, and only 2 years ago he won the NL MVP with Atlanta. He’s having another MVP-caliber season, as he leads the entire league with 168 hits. That’s more than teammate Trea Turner and the MVP-favorite Goldschmidt. As if that wasn’t enough, he also leads all of baseball with 43 doubles. Along with his 16 home runs, he’s racked up 263 total bases. That’s just 2 behind Betts, putting him as the 4th-most in the NL. He just went 3-for-3 last night, but was the only one of the big 3 to not homer. Perhaps consider a single play on that prop, but count on him to come through with the total bases as well.
