The MLB season is officially in full swing, and it’s been long enough for us to more or less know where things stand. We have a nice big slate on Saturday, and we’ve got a fun NL clash here between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago Cubs. It should be a great one between two of the league’s most storied franchises, broadcasted by FOX.
What better way to celebrate a nationally televised game than by betting a same game parlay? We’ve also got thoughts on the side and total, which you can find out in our full game preview.
I’ve done two MLB same game parlays over the past week. I cashed one of them at 10/1 odds and came up one small leg short on the other one. Let’s make it two out of three!
Los Angeles Dodgers -3.5 (+230)
Julio Urias under 6.5 strikeouts (+100)
Under 10.5 alternate total (-188)
Parlay odds: +1303
We have a three-leg parlay here, one which pays out just north of 13/1 with FanDuel Sportsbook. Let’s break it down:
Los Angeles Dodgers -3.5 (+230)
The Dodgers got no-hit on Thursday, but bounced back in a big way on Friday. They beat the Cubs 6-2, and should pick up another lopsided victory here. They struggled against San Diego in their previous series, but I haven’t been too concerned. Right before the Padres series, they had won 10 of 12. They still have one of the best run differentials in baseball, so they’re always a team that makes sense on this kind of alt run line play.
They have a big edge on the mound here, with Julio Urias facing off against Alec Mills. Mills is a 29-year-old with only 20 big league starts under his belt. In 15 appearances and three starts this year, he has a 5.18 ERA and 1.48 WHIP. His only good start came against a weak-hitting Marlins team. Urias’ 3.99 ERA might not jump off the page, but his 1.07 WHIP shows he’s still been very good. The Dodgers should cruise.
Julio Urias under 6.5 strikeouts (+100)
We get a nice odds boost by combining this with the Dodgers, when I don’t think it conflicts much. Urias hasn’t even topped five strikeouts in five straight starts, let alone six. 6.5 seems like a pretty inflated total here. The youngster has only topped six strikeouts in four of his 15 outings in 2021. That’s a pretty low hit-rate you’d be banking on to take the over here. Urias’ lack of big strikeout games haven’t stopped the Dodgers from racking up victories when he starts. Los Angeles has won seven of his last 10 outings, and five of those seven wins were by at least four runs.
Under 10.5 alternate total (-188)
We get an even bigger odds boost by combining this under with the Dodgers -3.5. Again it doesn’t conflict much, because our path here is just the Cubs’ bats going cold. The final score of Friday’s game was 6-2, and all we need is something like that to happen again here to cash this at 13/1. The Dodgers’ vaunted lineup hasn’t been quite as good as expected, so don’t think they’re gonna send this one over by themselves. In all likelihood the Dodgers will get a few runs off Mills early, then the Cubs will go to the bullpen. Chicago has the lowest bullpen ERA in all of baseball, so the scoring should really slow down once both relievers leave the game.
