We are continuing the week in Major League Baseball with a more than full 16-game slate on Tuesday, with the White Sox and Royals playing a doubleheader. A showdown between the Atlanta Braves and Boston Red Sox headlines the action, televised on TBS starting at 7:10 pm ET. Here is our same game parlay, and also be sure to check out all of our MLB previews.
Atlanta Braves -1.5 (+100)
Austin Riley to record an RBI (+100)
Xander Bogaerts to record a hit (-210)
J.D. Martinez to record a hit (-185)
Parlay odds: +792
Part of the value in same game parlays, of course, is that all of its components can be correlated if you so choose. That is some of the plan here, as Austin Riley driving in at least one run would obviously work well with a big win by the Braves. At the same time, plays that aren’t correlated drive up the overall payout of the parlay. That is the case with backing Boston’s Xander Bogaerts and J.D. Martinez to each get a base knock, but even if that happens there is no reason why Atlanta can’t roll. Let’s break down each of the three legs one by one.
Atlanta Braves -1.5 (+100) over Boston Red Sox
The Braves’ NL East prospects are dire after having lost four of five games to the Mets over the weekend, but they are still in good shape for a wild-card spot and the schedule lightens up a bit now that the Mets are out and the Red Sox are in. Boston’s bats have cooled off recently, their bullpen is a disaster right now (7.15 ERA since the all-star break) and their fielding has been a comedy of errors in recent weeks. The Sox are two games under .500 and in dead last in the AL East. Rich Hill is toeing the rubber on Tuesday, which probably isn’t good news for the home team since Atlanta feasts on left-handed pitching. Charlie Morton may not even need much run support, as he compiled a 3.30 ERA in July and blanked Philadelphia across 6.2 innings in his most recent start.

Austin Riley to record an RBI (+100)
Riley has gone three straight games without an RBI. The last time he went more than three without finding the RBI column was in mid-June. Being “due” is nice, but it’s certainly not the only reason to be confident in Riley. The star third baseman is coming off a ridiculous July in which he delivered 26 extra-base hits (11 home runs and 15 doubles). He is batting .362 against lefties in 2022 (compared to .274 against righties), so look for him to capitalize on a favorable matchup against Hill.
Don’t miss our MLB mega parlay for tonight’s action (+1820 odds!)
Xander Bogaerts to record a hit (-210)
Although Morton should be in line for another strong start, Bogaerts has a good chance of reaching base on one occasion and maybe more. The shortstop is 13-for-36 (.361) lifetime against Morton with two home runs and four doubles. Bogaerts got a hit this past Sunday against Kansas City after producing four in a single game two days earlier. He has every reason to be confident in his chances on Tuesday.
J.D. Martinez to record a hit (-185)
Martinez has also enjoyed plenty of success at Morton’s expense over the years. The designated hitter is 10-for-30 (.333) with a pair of doubles in this matchup. Moreover, Martinez is riding a three-game hitting streak entering tonight’s contest. There is no reason to think he will suddenly go hitless with Morton on the mound.
