After just 1 game on Thursday because of the Yankees-Guardians rainout, Friday is a huge day of MLB postseason action. There are 3 contests on the docket, including 2 in the National League that will break 1-1 series ties. It includes an NL East showdown between the Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies.
Here is our Same Game Parlay for this NLDS Game 3, and also be sure to check out all of our MLB previews.
Braves ML (+105)
Austin Riley to hit a home run (+550)
Part of the value in Same Game Parlays, of course, is that all of its components can be correlated if you so choose. That is the entire plan here, as Austin Riley going deep would work well with an Atlanta win. Let’s break down each of the legs one by one.
Braves ML (+105)
We don’t have a lot to work with because as of Friday morning the Braves still have not announced a starting pitcher (likely either Spencer Strider or Charlie Morton). Either way, the decision is a good problem to have for the defending World Series champions and I like their chances to pull off a minor upset regardless. Strider has been awesome in 2022 and is the favorite to win NL Rookie of the Year, while Morton is a grizzled veteran who has a ton of playoff experience. I’m not sure Atlanta can go wrong in either Game 3 or Game 4. Philadelphia is countering with Aaron Nola, who has been solid but unspectacular this season. Nola has been less impressive at home (3.56 ERA) than on the road (3.00 ERA), so the visitors may be able to hit him for at least a few runs. He also been dominated by Riley and Ronald Acuna Jr. throughout his career. Atlanta’s bats woke up late in each of the first two games of this series and that should give the team plenty of confidence heading into Friday afternoon.
Austin Riley to hit a home run (+550)
Riley will absolutely be champing at the bit as he awaits another matchup with Nola. Atlanta’s star third-baseman is 18-for-42 (.429) lifetime with 3 homers and 5 doubles against Nola. Riley batted .351 against Philadelphia during the regular season with 26 hits, 7 more than he had against any other club. He hit .359 in Philly and had 14 hits and Citizens Bank Park, 6 more than he had in any other park outside of Atlanta. Meanwhile, Nola has made 4 starts versus the Braves in 2022 and 2 – both at home – were mediocre at best (a combined 9 earned runs allowed in 13.0 innings). Don’t be surprised if Atlanta as a whole finds success, and Riley should certainly be part of that party.
