We have a more-than-full 17-game slate to continue the weekend in Major League Baseball on Saturday with doubleheaders in Toronto and Cleveland. The schedule is headlined by a 7:15 pm ET showdown between the Boston Red Sox and Chicago Cubs, televised regionally on FOX.

Here is our same game parlay, and also be sure to check out our full Red Sox-Cubs preview in addition to all of our MLB previews.

Red Sox -1.5 (+112)

Over 9.5 (-118)

Rafael Devers to record 2+ hits (+125)

Xander Bogaerts to record a hit (-290)

Parlay odds: +544

Part of the value in same game parlays, of course, is that all of its components can be correlated if you so choose. That is the entire plan here, as both Rafael Devers and Xander Bogaerts getting on base would work well with a Boston win and cover. Let’s break down each of the four legs one by one.

Red Sox -1.5 (+112)

The Red Sox won 20 games in June and have to hope for more of the same in July. Today they are sending rookie Josh Winckowski to the mound. Winckowski 3-1 in his first 4 career starts, winning each of his last 3 outings. After a short leash in his MLB debut, he has managed to pitch at least 5.0 innings in each game since. That is all the Red Sox should need with how potent their lineup is to support him. The Cubs are starting Alec Mills for just the second time this season. He made his first start 6 days ago and got abused by the Cardinals to the tune of 5 runs on 3 homers in only 2.2 innings of work. Don’t be susprised if the Sox torch him in this contest.

Over 9.5 (-118)

The Cubs wrapped up their series against the Reds with a game which had 22 total runs. They followed that up by beating Boston 6-5 on Friday. Another high-scoring affair should be in store for the second game of this series. Mills has allowed 5 runs in each of his last 3 appearances, doing so in just 8.1 total innings. When Mills toes the rubber, Chicago seems to get crushed in dramatic fashion. In 3 of his last 4 appearances the Cubs have lost 18-4, 19-5 and 12-1 (the exception was a 6-5 victory). The combination of his arm and Boston’s bats should lead to plenty of runs.

Rafael Devers to record 2+ hits (+125)

The left-handed Devers has a favorable matchup on his hands against the right-handed Mills. Overall for the 2022 campaign, Devers is batting .326 with 17 home runs. He has hit safely in 9 of the last 10 games, so asking him to get a pair of base knocks shouldn’t be too much. Devers delivered a 3-hit performance last Sunday. Getting to face a struggling pitcher makes it even more likely that the 25-year-old third baseman continues his fine form.

Xander Bogaerts to record a hit (-290)

We are asking even less of Bogaerts. Sure this a righty-righty matchup, but the star shortstop is batting a solid .315 against right-handers this season. Bogaerts is on a 4-game hitting streak and has hit safely in 7 of the last 8 contests. He will likely victimize Mills and/or a Chicago reliever at least once.
