The Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants both had incredible seasons, but one of them will have to end tonight. Game 5 of the NLDS will begin at 9:07 p.m. ET tonight on TBS, and it is sure to be a fantastic game. I have a same game parlay in mind to make things a little more interesting. Before I get to that, be sure to check out our full game preview for tonight’s matchup. You can also follow me on Twitter for any added plays.
Let’s get to it.
Under 7.5 (-122)
Logan Webb over 5.5 strikeouts (+136)
Mookie Betts to record 2+ total bases (-115)
Parlay odds: +849
Head on over to FanDuel Sportsbook to find this same game parlay at north of 8/1 odds. Let’s break down each leg one by one:
Under 7.5 (-122)
In an elimination game, each pitch carries a little extra weight. Both starting pitchers will be extremely careful and both managers will be utilizing their bullpens throughout the evening in order to get the best matchups and keep the offenses from finding a rhythm at the plate. Logan Webb is on the mound for the Giants. In his last 13.2 innings at home against the Dodgers, he has allowed just 1 run on 8 hits. Webb has already stepped up in some monster games for San Francisco this season, as he did in Game 1 of this series.
On the other side, Julio Urias takes the ball for the Dodgers. Games tend to be lower-scoring when he pitches. The under is 9-4-1 in his last 14 starts, and he has been even better away from Dodger Stadium. His ERA drops from 3.27 at home to 2.71 on the road. The San Francisco offense has been middle of the pack against lefties this season, and with a great pitching matchup in store, the under is the play.
Logan Webb over 5.5 strikeouts (+136)
Pairing well with the under, the second leg of this parlay focuses in on Webb’s strikeout total. The Dodgers have struck out 40 times through 5 postseason games, and Webb is responsible for 10 of them. The San Francisco right-hander was brilliant in Game 1, tossing 7.2 scoreless innings while allowing just 5 hits and no walks while striking out 10. Webb has been no stranger to the punch out, as he has racked up at least 5 strikeouts in 14 of his 16 starts since July 21. That includes 3 times against the Dodgers. That gives us some confidence that he can get to 6 tonight.
Mookie Betts to record 2+ total bases (-115)
This might not pair as well with the under, but sometimes in a same game parlay you’ve got to get a little wild. Mookie Betts just finds a way to get things done in the postseason. Betts is 7-for-20 (.350) through 5 postseason games this October, and he seems to come up big in clutch moments. He launched a big home run in Game 4, and he is swinging the bat with a ton of confidence. Unlike most of his teammates, Betts was able to have a solid day in Game 1 against Webb, as he went 2-for-4 on the day and was not a victim of a strikeout. He hits at the top of the order so we know he is going to get his chances, and it’s hard to bet against him the way he is seeing the ball right now.
