The Milwaukee Brewers extended their Wild Card series with the New York Mets last night with an exhilarating come-from-behind finish. Let’s look ahead to Game 3, where the winner will pack their bags to Philadelphia and punch their ticket to the NLDS. Below are my best MLB player prop bets for Wild Card Thursday for this huge Mets vs Brewers matchup. Are you a firm believer in Jose Quintana? Yeah, me neither. I’ll give it to Quintana; he’s in good form as of late. Over his last 5 starts, he’s pitching to a 0.90 ERA, with the Mets winning 4 of those starts. But that 1 loss came most recently in his last regular season outing and that was against the Brewers. Quintana allowed 7 base runners and 2 runs over 4.1 innings. The regression was already slowly on its way and I expect it to continue tonight — especially with Quintana’s 4.49 xERA.

The leash will undoubtedly be short for Quintana. Even with the Mets bullpen gassed, they’ll have to go to different arms the second or third time around the order to give the Brewers a new look. But even the bullpen hasn’t looked great. Over the last 2 weeks, the Mets’ bullpen has the 5th-highest ERA and a .326 on-base percentage. Look for the Brewers to carry that momentum from last night into tonight against Quintana, potentially David Peterson and a Mets bullpen I’m not too confident in.
