Today is a special day. It’s the start of the second half of the betting year. Sure we have only one game tonight but stay with me here. This is the last time this will happen this year (probably). If it happens again it will be during football season which is fine. Basically, we made it! Congrats people! We should bet a MLB player prop to celebrate!
Here’s a little cherry on top of today for those who need it. Sometimes you have to get greedy. It’s fine. Even though we only have one game tonight, it’s an awesome one. We’re talking the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees at 7:08pm ET on ESPN. There has to be a MLB player prop in there somewhere and I think I found one. Look at us just living the dream right now!

It looks like FanDuel is the only book that wants us to play today since they are the only book I could find with a MLB player prop. Both DraftKings and BetMGM seem to be passing until the Yankees name their starter. I couldn’t wait any longer especially since I like the Rodriguez number. I do hate the price at -122, but it is not outrageous.
Rodriguez hasn’t been great this season but we really don’t care about any of that. The question you have to ask yourself when betting an MLB player prop like this is — Does he strike people out? The answer to that question is yes. Rodriguez actually teeters on being a strikeout machine since he’s gone over this total in four of his last five starts.
He gets the New York Yankees tonight and even though they haven’t been striking out much, Rodriguez fanned at least seven of them in each of his two starts against them this season. Over their last 291 at-bats the Yankees have struck out 73 times. That’s a 25 percent K-rate, which isn’t bad, but it’s enough to warrant a move here. It’s their first game back from vacation and we need an MLB player prop to bet so I’m putting my flag in this one.
